At The Beach

For :iconkopaleo:
Last picture that will have “2016” on it. Well ya know, I might post the year-in-review meme later but that doesn’t count.
I’ve drawn Cosmia about 8 times (counting the several Cosmias on her ref as seperate depictions)
I love how I drew Cosmia’s face, it looks so precious like “waaa water is wet!”. I like to imagine that her fur is a little softer than the average pony’s so she gets a little cold if she stays in the water too long…but she will never let Artline know that because then the fun would have to end sooner as Artline wouldn’t want her to get a cold. It’s all good, the sunshine is very warm this fine day. //though it’s funny to me, I’d never imagine drawing the beach during December when everything is cold as hell here. My fingers are freezing as I’m typing this xD Anyway, I hope the New Year brings many pleasant experiences and creates amazing memories.

I often feel kinda shit that I went to an art school and not to idk super smart proffessional school but I do love learning how to view the world differently. Last summer my mum got us to stay near a beach for a week so I had a lot of opportunities to paint the sea (for school). It’s fun studying the sea because how the flat horizon makes the sky look even bigger and to notice small things like the ochre tones in the waves. Painting digitally is a lot different of course. No matter how fancy my brush settings are, it’s never quite as alive as doing it with oils. Few but heavy shadows because they’re outside on a sunny day.
