How does her being a villain not count? It doesn’t matter what role she plays it’s still her, if you can ignore that as if it doesn’t count then that means I could ignore her presence in the show as a villain altogether and just say she was forced in out of nowhere at the end of season 5.

The season 6 opener had 2 story lines and Starlight was the focus of one as well a part of the resolution to another, her presence can’t be ignored, she was a major plot element, had she not been there the plot could not progress that is the epitome of being the focus.

The only episode that actually had HER be the one to learn a lesson other than a hearts warming tale (which is extremely debatable if it was a valid lesson) was in every little thing she does, the whole point of the episode was that magic doesn’t solve everything but then the season 6 finale turns right around and makes that lesson moot as it’s magic that saves the day for her, thus undoing her lesson and the development it provided.

How did either of those episodes give her development? In no second prances she wasn’t the one who learned any lessons or even really did anything, Twilight learned a lesson and Trixie got development Starlight just sat on the side while everything happened around her, we didn’t learn or gain anything about starlight. In a hearts warming tale Twilight just reads her a story that makes starlight like a particular holiday it had nothing to do with Starlight, she was just a catalyst to tell the story for the episode and nothing else.

I personally don’t think she’s ruining the show that’s Smokey’s opinion not mine I just think Starlight is bland and pointless as a character, she adds nothing and just detracts from the episode eating up time that could have been spent on literally anyone else.

Episodes where she is an antagonist do not count. Those episodes do not focus on her, she has a completely different role in the series, and those are generally not the episodes that people who dislike starlight complain about unless they need an excuse to make the false claim that she has too much focus. And her story in the crystalling is not the main plot, it’s a side plot. Even if she is instrumental in the resolution, the focus is primarily on the mane six. And as for her other episodes, no second prances is about her meeting someone who had a similar past and how that affected her and her relationship with twilight. A heart’s warming tale wasn’t really about her, and every little thing she does explores her tendency to take easy solutions to her problems regardless of their negative consequences and how they affect those around her. whether or not you like those episodes is irrelevant, they do develop her character. And how did to where and back again undo any development? She’s not in most of the show, meaning she can’t affect the episodes the show she’s not in, which is most of them, meaning she has little to no effect on the quality of most episodes, meaning she little to no effecy on the quality of the show..
