That looks promising!
Written one page or so so far:
Blueblood furled up the scroll with a frown (and a flick of magic from his horn, of course). What he’d just read… the implications… he needed to get back to his suite. Carefully straightening his saddle bags (he couldn’t afford to get a hair on his hide out of place, after all), he began trotting up the path.
…Only to run straight into a group of ponies.
“Would you watch where you’re going?” whined Blueblood. “You nearly mussed up my mane.”
Wait, he knew these three. Fellow students at the school, he thought. Then again, a lot of his peers tended to blend together for him.
“There you are, Blueblood!” the unicorn in the middle said, smiling. Her coat, like his, was white. He didn’t see how that one common point meant she could ignore his royal title, though.
“Moondancer is having a little get-together in the west castle courtyard,” she continued. “You wanna come?”
Moondancer, Moondancer… Blueblood searched his mind. Wasn’t she that quiet filly, the one who was always following him around, copying his mane style, even? She was useful in a way, always offering to carry his books for him. He supposed he could do a little something to show his appreciation – not too grand a gesture, mind you, lest she start to get any ideas above her station.
The three schoolfillies looked at him expectantly, craning their necks forward. Maybe a little soiree on the green might be fun, one never kn… but wait. This likely wouldn’t be that sort of get-together, would it? Not the proper sort. Moondancer and the other three were from good families, of course, but hardly the garden party set. Streamers, and childish party games, and… Blueblood swallowed. Cake.
His aunt had an occasional fondness for the dessert. Only occasional these days because, after having it at their special teatimes for half his childhood, Blueblood had grown… Well, utterly sick of it.
But no, even if there wouldn’t be cake, he could hardly be seen at an event like that. What if someone from the press saw? Just the other week the Royal Guards had caught a tabloid reporter who’d successfully hopped the castle walls (being a pegasus pony probably helped him out in that case). As Prince of Equestria, he had an image to uphold.
He forced a smile and took a deep breath.“Oh, sorry, girls, but…
I really couldn’t possibly be seen at an event as common as that. I am the prince, lest you forget.” He gave a pointed look at the white unicorn in the middle, who’d been overly familiar with him. Her face turned red. Embarrassment at being put in her place, or anger? Blueblood didn’t stick around to find out, busily galloping back home to the castle.
“Rude much?” muttered Twinkleshine to her friends. “I think he’s more interested in his ’image’ than friends.”
“You think?” Minuette returned sarcastically. “Seriously. You ’think’.”
“All right, all right, ’he’s obviously more interested’. Are you happy now?” replied Twinkleshine, rolling her eyes.
“Do we always have to fight?” cut in Lemon Hearts.
This comic just feels like a wasted effort.
That said, to the people who enjoyed it, good that you liked it.
Him trying to put the moves on Opalescence was a funny little background joke.
Yeah, the yap dog is nice addition.
Let’s have him and Angel meet sometime.
Hey, Bunny could get some love from Fluttershy too. But all right, will do. :)
I think the scenario would be missing something without Spike. Plus, he could soften the rough edges on Blueblood’s personality at least a tiny bit. Much like Twilight appeared to be worse before Spike was old enough to aid her properly. And let’s face it, ponies love Spike.
However, seeing as you mentioned him, Bunny is one thing I did enjoy about the comic. His role might be too close to Angel Bunny’s, though. Never mind how close their names are.
I’m planning to do that as well.
Thanks. I just read a bit of the first Stallionverse fic; wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. I might check out the second in a bit.
So you would read it, huh? Maybe I can finally get off my rump and actually write one of these fics I’m constantly having ideas for… Here, let me run something by you.
I’ve been thinking how Bunny in Spike’s role might be a bit problematic since Bunny can’t talk (and presumably can’t write). On the other hand, we can see from the backup story on the moon, though, Bunny is capable of intelligent complex tasks (like independently calling for help).
So, which of these 3 options do you think would be best:
Bunny can still be included in Options 2 and 3, just not being the “Spike”. What do you think?
I’d read it. As for others who tackled the idea, there is the Stallionverse, where Prince Blueblood befriends a group of stallions to create the Elements of Harmony
http://www.fimfiction.net/group/203804/stallionverse
And this one, where it’s Shining Armor but Blueblood accompanies him, strongly implied to be one of the Elements eventually
http://www.fimfiction.net/story/95466/make-some-friends-shining-armor
Sadly, the latter seems to be abandoned and the author hasn’t logged on in months. It didn’t even get to the point where we got to see who was planned to be which Element.
You know what, now I kind of want to write a fic that actually tries taking the concept seriously.
Logically, yes
In an over-the-top gag comic that exists to bash Blueblood, no
Mare in the Moon
tag because this literally isn’t the mare in the moon. Nor is it a mare at all. This was… disappointing.
