Starlight's a friend she made after she became more socially... sociable? She's definitely picked up social skill in the series. Also it's the first time she's been given charge over a _*pony_*. She's been in charge of Spike for who-knows-how-long (comics say in infancy, but that comic was kinda dumb), and she hugs him sometimes.


 
But she's never had the thrill of being a teacher with a personal student before. I can kind of relate.


 
I mean, I haven't either, but given she's both a student _*and_* a dear friend, I can't imagine how great that must be. ~%Almost like adoptive daughter? Even though she kinda sounds older than her, hah... Must be embarrassing for Starlight. Which would explain much of how she acts.~%
