No, that is not the reason, I just explained to you precisely how a replace function could work by limiting it to just a user’s own images. You make no sense.
But that is the reason they are not implementing another way, the staff have to do it, they can also replace but you have to talk to them.

Not really. Just don’t let people overwrite someone else’s images. Use dup reports for instances like that, and for instances where a user just wants to upload a new version of one of their old images, give them a basic replace function. And if someone is posting the same image over and over, there’s a different problem entirely.

Given how a number of times we have the same image posted by two different people, it would be less effective to let users do it as they could remove someone else’s upload.
Or give them the ability to repost the same image over and over to make people see it again and again.
