I'm very well aware of that. I like headcanoning that their family situation isn't a healthy one.
That being said, despite that I don't know if Chysalis willingly did this to the other Changelings. I don't think she knew about the other healthier methods of feeding. Keep in mind she's still in the "cheese" form herself so she's essentially starving too. There was also a moment where she looked like she was genuinely considering on taking Starlight's hoof.

But ultimately, I think her pride got to her and ended up being her downfall which made her lose everything she had, family included. Had she swallowed her pride and tried compromising with her family, she probably be in a better situation.
