It’s not just you. I really don’t see why “everybody” or “everyone” is insufficient for mixed-species groups. Not to mention that in previous seasons, the term “everypony” has itself been used in ways that are clearly meant to include any non-ponies present on a fairly regular basis.
Rightb Neighsay
Know your place
I agree “everyone” is less awkward, to us. To ponies, they’re so used to “everypony” that anything else takes getting used to and they’re trying out “everycreature” as a natural first step.
Now “everycreature” isn’t meant to be conflated with “every creature”, as one is inclusive, the other exclusive, but if it does get conflated in-universe, they’ll have to move on to using “everyone” and maybe “everybody” if there aren’t beings that lack bodies.
The problem is, Twilight also uses the term. And I don’t understand why. I’d understand if it was just Neighsay.
In Neighsay’s case, I think he’s just saying every creature, not a compound word substitute for everyone, since he clearly isn’t PC. The way he sees it, if you’re not a part of everypony, you’re a creature in the, for lack of a pony word, dehumanizing sense of the term.
The only failure point in that logic is that the history Equestria has with the dragons, changelings and hippogriffs (Twilight’s misstep notwithstanding) is a largely positive one in recent years. The movie implies that the hippogriffs were allies previously, even.
Considering Neighsay uses the opinion of Starswirl, a pony who’s supposedly travelled far and wide and who, in fact, befriended Scorpan, implies he is aware of Equestrian history. It’s not that he’s the kind of racist who thinks they’ll be overrun…he’s the kind of racist who thinks he deserves an advantage when what Twilight’s seeking to do is treat everyone fairly.
Speaking of everyone, I must admit that I find the term “everycreature”to be a ridiculous mouthful where “everyone” would have been plenty sufficient. Maybe that’s just me though.
Funny thing, Starswirl’s also old enough to remember when ponies were even prejudiced against other kinds of ponies. If he never used slurs for pegasi or earth ponies, that would qualify him as progressive for his time.

That’s the thing. You’re thinking based on what we really know of them. Neighsay doesn’t know anything about the other nations beside the fact that they’re foreign. He’s the sort of racist person you see in real life who thinks that there’s a conscious, meticulous plan by immigrants to take over the west by outbreeding white people.
He’s irrational and racist. He assumes that any resource given to them will be exploited and turned back on the superior race.
I fail to understand how that could happen if Equestria, their teacher, is also their friend. Considering it was Equestria reaching out in the first place, offering friendship, I really don’t think anyone but the dragons have it in them to backstab. The griffons don’t care, the changelings and hippogriffs owe Equestria for helping them out…and the yaks just smash everything anyway. And as long as Ember, who at least has a vague understanding of friendship, is Dragon Lord it’s unlikely they’d backstab either.
Not if Equestria befriends them first.
I can actually imagine weaponizing friendship. Other nations could “befriend” other nations and join together to make a force strong enough to topple Equestria.
Me too. Without a reaction from him I just feel like he is mislead not vicious.
Discord, Changlings, Tirek, Storm King that were all nation wide threats. All non-pony.
King Sombra - 1 town.
Trixie with Alicorn Amulette - 1 village
The show does not give me enough reason to believe that these surface level racsim goes deeper.
Why I feel at exactly this point at a word from Starswirl he could have given it a reluctant try.
I really wished we would have seen his reaction when Flim and Flam were exposed.
Yes. He also admits he has no idea what he’s complaining about, though. He believes that other creatures will weaponize friendship, something that only the Elements of Harmony are capable of doing. When Twilight calls him on this by asking how they would weaponize friendship, he replies with “I don’t know.” before going on a tangent.
He endorses Friendship University almost immediately just to spite Twilight. It’s then revealed to be a giant scam. This makes him look like an idiot.
I don’t think it’s pettiness from his perspective. I think it’s genuinely important to him that a rival to Twilight’s school exists. Remember, he thinks that Twilight’s school could destroy Equestria. So by endorsing an alternative to her monopoly (one that’s more conveniently situated for many ponies and operates quicker), then rapidly giving it the prestigious seal of the EEA, he creates something that might be able to render Twi’s school at the very least far less relevant than it is now.

Because he seemed genuine when he saw Star Swirl?
You are way more likely to listen to people you pespect.
That you get the feeling might be an indication that you don´t have a person you truley value their oppinion even if it is on the oposite of your own.
The guys shows zero respects for the princesses, why wsould the Pillars be any different?
You would not believe how often a “I trust this one.” is enough.
We have so much diversity (including racists and proud nazis) on the construction sites going on.
Just based on “He does the job.”
