The crystal heart which protect the Crystal empire from a huge snow storm from the north, if that thing lost it magic, Crystal empire will be buried under very thick layer of snow and constantly having snow storm every day.

 
If we think logically about this but Las Pegasus is build on a cloud. If magic disappear then it should fall from the sky along with the ponies staying there.
