I hated drawing this picture.

I really did. I’m not good with slice of life, regular setting, normal people’s houses backgrounds. I really suck at them, I can’t picture them correctly in my head, they always seem either messy and clunky, or too empty and lifeless. It’s like there’s something missing that throws the whole picture out of whack and it drives me up the walls. So the background took longer than usual because I no good at slice of life stuff. In the end I tried a hybrid between the colouring style from “Life is Strange” and the Byers’ house from “Stranger Things”. I think it came out OK. I might use this in the future to show Movie Slate’s room more often.

“The Slumber Party Massacre” is probably one of the most forgettable movies I’ve ever seen. Do you want to know how forgettable it is? I just watched it, and it’s already evaporating from my brain. Which I think is the real tragedy here because there was potential in both the script and the director. The original concept was that of a slasher parody, which is why the movie feels more light hearted than others of the genre, but it falls short in making us care for the characters or their situations. You could argue that that’s the point of a slasher movie. You’re not here to care for who lives or dies, you’re here to see them die in horrible ways, and believe it or not when you confine your slasher to only use a power drill, your deaths suddenly all become samey and repetitive. Again, this is an issue that I have with the genre, of which I’m not that big a fan, but my biggest problem with this is the fact that the movie could’ve been so much better had they embrace the spoofy tone and disregarded the more horror oriented thrills. This didn’t stop them from turning it into another movie series though. There’s like three of these out there.

“The Slumber Party Massacre” falls short on all fronts except for it’s (un)intentional comedic moments that seem the only remnant of what movie we could’ve gotten, which one could argue was the real victim here: The original idea. I’d say watch it only if you’re really into slasher films, but with the new “Halloween” already out, you know you can do a lot better.

I hope you guys enjoy the picture!

No, Jason and Freddy goes after everyone, no matter how much sex they had. It’s just that it’s a popular trope to make the “pure” one the survivor, and that’s not always the case, especially when they want to get creative.

Purple thing? Is it a thing you strap onto your groin area? A ‘strap-on’ if you will? Because if we’re talking slasher movies, I expect Movie’s gonna bite the bullet early if she has such a thing in her room.
