Sometimes there are people you hate more then others sometimes you willing to put aside your hatred for someone else just so you can save it for the one who has most of your hatred

But that doesn’t explain the first one.
 
Also, Season 8 disproved it by showing a very unstable Chrysalis.
 
Not to mention, she appeared in a completely new disguise. Why wouldn’t she have just disguised herself as Trixie, or used Trixie’s knowledge to defeat the ponies?

you’d be surprised the lengths people will go to just to get back at the very person they hate even pretending to be someone that they love and treasure trust me I know that feeling
 
I’ve seen people put themselves through the wringer just to try and get a chance to get back at the very person they just spies Chrysalis might have done the same thing gone through some intense Focus to hide her emotions just so she can act like Trixie all for a chance first Starlight just when she thought she had a friend just a stab in the back
 
To see the hurt pain and sorrow and deception on her face I wouldn’t put it past Chrysalis to do something like that and to relish and bathe in her victory

Also, Chrysalis has always been Trixie.  
She just created the ‘wandering magician’ persona so she can not feel so stressed from royal duties.  
And also maybe so she could actually interact with ponies in a comparatively less hostile way.  
Mind blown.

Things got complicated during the season 6 finale though.  
Maybe she just has a split personality.

And as it turns out, queen bughorse was redeemed anyway, but took trixie’s place
