Glad you like it.
I always thought the image was meme-worthy. Shining messing with his little sister could have a thousand interpretations.
Thanks.
Yeah, think that qualifies as an eye.
Good point. It can still see so the caudal photoreceptor is technically an eye.
“Normal eye” is very subjective. Most creatures have way different eyes than us.
Science.gov. The correct term for the “eye” is a “caudal photoreceptor.” It doesn’t see perfect images like a normal eye would but can still see light and passing shadows.
they also don’t have a head, so I dunno if thats actually a valid answer to the question
I actually knew about eye spots, but I didn’t bring them up because they’re not real eyes.
Google didn’t turn up anything for the crayfish thing, but admittedly I didn’t spend that long looking. Out of curiosity, where did you hear it from?
@PonyPon
…Yeah, I kinda expected someone to turn up and point out something after I said that. I don’t feel as dumb as I expected to, though, since it’s something I actually didn’t know rather than something I just forgot. So thanks for teaching me something new.
You know, teasing doesn’t count as fighting, right? Shiny was just harmlessly messing with Twilight back then.
Starfish have eyes on each arm.
From what I’ve heard, some species of crayfish have an extra pair of eyes on their tails. I don’t know if it’s true though. But beyond that, there are some species who have evolved to have “eyes” on their body to ward off predators.

@mjangelvortex
Are there any real-world animals that have eyes somewhere other than their head? I’m fairly sure there aren’t.
I’m not too sure if all insects do. But you’re right about a lot of them having compound eyes. Some even have many ocelli (yes, this is where Ocellus gets her name). And there’s also insects and other arthropods that have both a set of two compound eyes and another set of two or more ocelli. Ladybugs don’t have any eyes on their wingspots though.
Don´t all insects have crazy amounts of eyes?
