Well, look at it like this: Her body shape is that of a “princess” ideal, shared by most princesses and a select few others, like Mistmane, said to have been exceptionally beautiful. Probably statuesque and regal.
 
On the other hoof, her stringy mane and the holes in her body give off a starving, diseased, corpse-like vibe.
 
She probably looks to the regular pony like something that’s both beautiful and monstrous. Think a good-looking ghoul or vampire—one you can see right away is an undead predator.
 
As for the chitin plates, I doubt they are pronounced if she actually has any. Kirin have noticeable ridges, for example.

It would likely depend on how buglike she really is.
 
Would a hyper realistic image of her basically be a hard, but still smooth, pony with maybe some external joints and a few round holes in her legs? (A smooth, “clean” face would be particularly important.)  

 
Or an insectoid creature covered in chitin segments and jagged edges?
