Reminds me of a line from Beast Wars:
“I can suffer your treachery, lieutenant… But not your incompetence! Treachery requires NO mistakes.”

Yeah, if he wasn’t expecting them to try to backstab him, it would certainly undermine his “evil mastermind” credibility.
However, just to play devil’s advocate, if he happened to stumble across where they’d put his bell, there’d have to be some kind of consequences for their treachery, if only as a way of keeping up appearances. He may be expecting it, but I doubt he’d want them to know he’s expecting it.
I think Grogar knows very well these three are trying to play him for a fool,
but for now, it’s more important for his plans that his unwilling minions cooperate.
If that means being united in wanting to betray him, then so be it.
He’s waited for millennia already, he can wait a bit longer.
Well, now I know what to get Grogar for his birthday…
Claps his hooves together?
What’s he supposed to snap with? His horns?
