She’s living her dream to be a tree.

The only part of my take on her fate, as illustrated her, that wasn’t inspired by Adrian’s post, was the part where her consciousness faded.
 
My version has her become a sentient tree, the Artifact Of Kindness resting beneath her, her roots traveling underground and slipping and slithering under all of Equestria.
 
In this way, Fluttershy Anymaelea would watch over all of Equestria on behalf of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna by feeling the march of fell things stepping on the ground.

bq. Lord Heathspike and High Mage Twilight stood at the base of the towering tree. The petals slowly drifted down from thee pink and yellow flowers. It was a good spring.

The enormous dragon in Equestrian barding carefully ran a pony-sized fingernail through the highest branches of the tree as though they were the flowing hair of long ago. The ancient unicorn, unchanged save for a single streak of silver in her mane, used her magic to open the yellowing pages of a cracked tome, and began to read aloud the ancient Equestrian myth of the Nightmare of the Moon and the Six Elements of Harmony.

Feeling her heart failing, she flew her hardest to her favorite meadow. her eyes were dimmed with age, but her graceful figure hadn’t changed a bit. she gingerly plucked put the enchanted seal from her bag and tore it between her hooves. a surge of energy flooded through her as her hid legs rooted into the fertile ground. a warm bliss washed over her ody as it became hard and wooden. within a few minutes, she could no longer smell or see or taste or hear. but she could feel the wind filter through her leaves and she felt her heart slow to a stop, it’s dity replaced by her new form. she felt her life sync with the land itself, receiving strength from the sun on her leaves. her thoughts began to dissolve, as the last of her memories bled together into a homogeneous feeling of bliss, the only thing she would feel for the rest of her life as a tree.
 
I VERY STRONGLY suggest reconsidering the “grimdark” tag.
