Yona: That doesn’t sound right.
Sandbar: Nah that’s about right.
Gallus: So clearly since you only have five Alicorn princesses, the rest of you are butts.
Sandbar: You’re a butt.

I wish that misconception would just die already. They pretty clearly state in the season 6 premiere that Equestria has never seen the birth of an Alicorn. It’s heavily implied in the show (like, the first episode) and then explicitly confirmed in The Journal of the Two Sisters, that they were born before the founding of Equestria, as Alicorns.
Nopony had been born an alicorn for a long time, IIRC.
The Journal of the Two Sisters also seems to imply that they were born alicorns, and that alicorns were once a whole race.
Didn’t Celestia and Luna say that no pony had been born as an alicorn to their knowledge, though?

And I mean, Celestia and Luna were born alicorns, like Flurry Heart, so really the only one that would apply to would be Twilight. Unless, of course, Cadance had particularly strong Pegasus magic (but she doesn’t strike me as the type)
