Not what you said directly, but the same logic applies. And you just said it yourself, what we clearly saw happen in the background is inconsistent. That is my whole point! The direction the stories have taken Big Mac in are inconsistent with what we previously saw him doing in the background. That is my point of contention with the SugarMac arc.

Why not? If you’re basing what’s canon and what’s not on whether or not the background actions are verbalized in the script, it’s the same ill-considered logic.

Not in the scripts maybe but the fact is they are there on full display. What do they expect the viewers to do? Pretend they don’t notice? Is that what you all are doing right now throughout this discussion?

I understand how episodes are produced. What shocks me is how such a thing was allowed to pass. Think about it, even if we assume that the storyboarders or animators were not aware when they added the Cheerimac picture to the CMCs clubhouse, did none of the supervisors stop them to say “Err, wait a minute, this contradicts what we’re going to do next. Please fix this background” Or did none of the animators who worked on the two episodes bring it to anyone’s attention?
 
For that matter, did none of the script supervisors cross-reference the script for Hard to Say Anything with any of the past episodes from earlier seasons that made all those visual cues that they had previously made in reference to Hearts And Hooves Day?
 
This is exactly the point I was making about laziness. They just seem to pull whatever out of the air without any regard to whether or not it fits with previous episodes they’re trying to build on.

Do you not know how television production works? Episodes are written long before they’re animated, and episodes are often animated at the same time. Later episodes are already written whenever an episode gets animated.
