I mean, he'd manipulated Sombra into trying to blast Fluttershy so he could "sacrifice" himself (which from Sombra's perspective, he was plainly just outsmarting Discord), then gave an encouraging speech to the Mane Six, and here, he was blatantly *_**trying_*** to piss Tirek off so he'd make a mistake and try to off him immediately.


 
He's an excellent manipulator, even without his powers. (speaking of which, it's funny how Cozy Glow was trying to manipulate him with her trademark false sweetness until Chrysalis cut her off).
