The scene happened before “Crystal War”.
The war has been going on for months, and seem like it will never end.
They had to protect others and themselves, but they also had to try not to hurt the crystal ponies badly. So all the soldiers are exhausted.
The background story of this scene is that crystal army captured Fleetfoot (I haven’t think of the reason) and the rest of them saved her but also got hurt very badly. After they got away from the crystal army, they arrived at a destroyed village.

- All of them got hurt on their wings because I think the main superiority of pegasus is that they can fly (while Sombra’s army is crystal “ponies”). That why their wings always become the target.
- I know the one being captured was Fleetfoot, but Soarin and Spitfire’s Injury seem worse. That’s because I tried not to make the drawing looks too bloody or the crystal army being too cruelly to Fleetfoot, and end up the other two got worse injuries.
- Soarin’s face was hurt by a male crystal pony (the knives on his helmet and shoulder).
The idea came from MLP: Friendship Is Magic; season 5, episode 25 “The Cutie Re-Mark pt 1”.
