The first appearance of changelings in the historical record dates from post-Yauna invasion times, occupying the region of Dihistan after their original occupants, the Parna pegasus tribe settled in Parthava. At this point, the changelings still were sky nomads in the same mold as the pegasi and griffon groups that still roamed the area, and soon became allies of the Seleukid queens against the Arshakids of Parthava. Although they failed in stopping the Parthavans from expelling the Seleukids from the Equestrian Plateau, on the meantime, they adopted many cultural influences from the Yauna hippogriffs, from their philosophy, fashions, some personal names, to the titling of the their queens as Istványa (derived from the Yauna stéphanos [“crown”]). The ruling queens at that time were from a clan that claimed descent from a Árpád. eventually, that clan split into multiple families that hold a status similar to our wuzurgan. As of today, the family that currently holds the throne is the Kriszális family, headed by Olária, fourth of that name, since 1936 BSE…

As i already stated multiple times in the season threads, i see the show Chrysalis as a megalomaniac who wants to be remebered by posterity as a great conqueror, everything else being secondary to that ambition.

I originally went with that for my AU, but To Where and Back Again created a large problem with the changedlings, and while that episode was sufficiently flawed that i excised it from my AU, the other outings of the changedlings were good enough that i had to effectively find a way to reform the changelings without necessarily going through that, the original idea being that the changedling form is their normal form to begin with. In the end, i just decided to simply have them never needing to reform in the first place. That meant doing away with A Canterlot Wedding too.

So, now, my AU Chrysalis is closer in personality terms to a mix between IDW Reversalis and show Chrysalis - much like the latter, she has the ambition of being remembered far beyond her death, like the legendary Árpád ¹ and Hajnal ² , but unlike her, she chooses to do that by modernizing her isolated queendom instead of attempting to be a conqueror.

Unlike her grandson and prospective successor, Thorax (Taksony Aba), she’s still a adept of the Azadaena and while not a enemy, is not a close ally to Equestria either.
