Just to be clear, we're talking about the same Boast Busters where not only have most of the "rules" of magic in this setting "established" in that episode have never been mentioned again, but Twilight displayed a huge amount of long-distance magical power that she's never shown since, not even after becoming an alicorn?
I know that continuity really hasn't been this show's strong suit even in the later more continuity-heavy seasons... but this is the very definition of reaching.
