I’m the ‘Drama Dragon’ and then you go and throw a wall of over reactive text about how the fandom reacts to things after I barely mentioned the fandom at all and make it sound like I or they hate the show as a whole these days.
Okay dude.
There are those and there are so many more who make our fandom not only look bad, but who actually make it bad. Where can you have a peaceful, positive conversation about the show these days without someone butting in, berating you and trying to explain you “how bad this episode is” and then blaming you and ridiculing you for not hating, but loving it? It happens every single time.
A long time ago, the wrong people started to come into our fandom and slowly began corrupting it and we let them do it. We spotted those people a long time ago and could have stopped them, but we didn’t. We should have kindly told them to stop that hateful, cynical approach to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and, if they refused, kicked them out of the fandom, banned them from every fandom site like the villains they are.
It’s one of these “If only we could get back in time, then we would fix everything” things, but there is no time machine and no time magic in this world.
We could have stopped these people and prevented the fandom from becoming like it is today, but we just sat there and let them do it, because we believed we have to tolerate and love their horrible behavior too, in order to stay true to our philosophy.
Those people ruined the fandom, but we ruined it, too. We sit all in the same boat, the black knights and the white knights together. All of us are responsible for what the brony fandom has become up until today. We all failed.

This episode is horrible and I won’t bother watching it a second time to get to know it better, to see if it’s really that horrible, and I don’t care about your explanations about how this and that shitty plot element in it isn’t shitty. MY first impression after seeing that episode once on livestream is that it’s horrible and really, really bad writing and I have no moral obligation to actually get invested into the episodes of the show to ‘be able to judge them fairly’. If I see it once and I say it’s shit, then it IS shit. I smell shit when it’s in front of me, so I know it’s shit.
This episode is horrible and badly written, the one responsible for this MESS is a bad writer and they should be fired for writing out that shit that contradicts everything and ruins the style of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Jim Miller should be fired alongside them because he let this all happen and contributed to the downfall of what was once a wonderful and perfectly good show!

The brony fandom, for the most part, the overwhelming amount of its members, has learned nothing from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Less than a decade. It hasn’t even been long before we succumbed to the overall, hateful trot of the rest of humanity. We failed.

If he did care, why would he allow the writers and assistant directors to walk all over him? He has made statements that the writers have gone on to contradict entirely, and he just passively let them do it. Despite claiming how much they love Faust and have tried to stay as true to her vision as possible, the show has made radical and disgusting deviations from it. He has never even blamed the writers for doing these things, but his defenders are quick to do so. As the lead director, it is his job to keep everyone on the same page. According to Nicole Dubuc, Jim was at every single recording session of the show and personally oversaw every frame of animation. The significance of his role on the show is so often downplayed by his defenders, as if for some reason being the director doesn’t mean the same thing on this cartoon as it does for “real” shows.

He cares a lot, and that’s why all the hate directed at him bothers him so much. Also he doesn’t “claim” to work hard. The show staff can tell you that he really does. Those are just the facts,and I don’t mind putting my name to them.

I think the show could have ended better too but I really don’t see the point of taking it out on Silver Quill’s art (or harassing the staff on Twitter).
Yeah it’s fucking ridiculous… these people make our fandom look bad
Pretty much that, the general slice of life sort of episodes were mostly fine. Or at least I can’t say they were a lot less enjoyable than the previous seasons,. But the overall story of this season that it keeps coming back to is pretty much taking that thing that fans clearly didn’t want and that they said wouldn’t happen, and just doing it anyway cause screw it. I guess it kinda just makes the series stop so they can throw G5 out there. And the ending just seemed so… unnecessary. Both with the two-parter, and the epilogue. Nothing about them just felt justified for what the series had been about.
Whether those behind the scenes are proud of it or not is a bit up in the air, but I’m gonna assume most aren’t. Meghan certainly didn’t at all sound thrilled about what was coming with S9 and G5.

As far as I’m concerned, “white knights” are good people. How much they get ridiculed by being mockingly referred to doesn’t matter and doesn’t withstand that fact. It’s when you become a black knight that the problems start and there are way too many black knights in this fandom.
