I admit…. when I was little, I always found parent deaths saddening ever since Barbar’s mother fell sacrificing herself to help her herd escape the Hunter. And I admit; Barbar mourning was sad, but the emotion got more enhance by the elders including the Old King. Elders always enhance emotional scenes.
It’s sad this mother fell. She was such a dear. She chose to see Bright Mac’s heart over the feud, help Mrs Cake find her talent, saw the humour in moments, refuse to allow her gender to stop her form working, and even defy her dad so she be with her love thus earning Granny Smitth’s trust.
It was because of her the Apple young ebcame the heroes; especially Applejakc who help forge the Mane 6 and Applebloom who help form the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

I don’t think she died at the age of 45. Applejack was a teen when she was already gone, so I assume she died at like 30-35.
