To be more precise, in Quenya Elvish, “Andúril” is composed of “Andúnë” (“Sunset”/“West”) and “ril” (“brilliance”), and is commonly translated as “Flame of the West.” But since Andúnë has a secondary meaning, it can also be translated as “Sunset brilliance,” which is honestly the closest we’ll get to Sunset Shimmer. The Parf Edhellen lists “alca” and “mirilya” as translations for “glitter,” which is derived from the Middle Primitive Elvish “ril,” which also means “glitter.” “Tintina” is the translation for “sparkle” and “tilwe” is the Qenya (proto-Elvish) word for “glimmer.” You could probably derive some word for “shimmer” from these pieces, but “ril” works well enough as a loose translation.
“It has been remade.”
Fair enough.
It’s LOTR. Nerdspeak is its very lifeblood.
That’s way more nerdspeak than I was prepared to see in this comment section. :V
