Description

“From the ashes, a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be king!”

Made when a friend noted that Sunset Shimmer could be loosely translated into Andúril.

To be more precise, in Quenya Elvish, “Andúril” is composed of “Andúnë” (“Sunset”/“West”) and “ril” (“brilliance”), and is commonly translated as “Flame of the West.” But since Andúnë has a secondary meaning, it can also be translated as “Sunset brilliance,” which is honestly the closest we’ll get to Sunset Shimmer. The Parf Edhellen lists “alca” and “mirilya” as translations for “glitter,” which is derived from the Middle Primitive Elvish “ril,” which also means “glitter.” “Tintina” is the translation for “sparkle” and “tilwe” is the Qenya (proto-Elvish) word for “glimmer.” You could probably derive some word for “shimmer” from these pieces, but “ril” works well enough as a loose translation.
