Lyra and Bonbon are some of my favorite background characters so it’s only fitting I draw/write a little thing for them, especially since I already gave them a kid, Jasper Jade.
 
Lyra Heartstrings is a musician by trade and talent, though her true passions always lay elsewhere in investigating conspiracy theories. She’d spend every waking moment researching them, organizing meetups with other likeminded ponies as well as coordinating a letter-writing circle for them to discuss theories between meetups. She eventually founds an organization called the “Equestrian Truth Evaluation Team”, Or E.T.E.T. At their peak they had 51 chapters throughout all of Equestria, ranging from two to two hundred members.  
Bonbon’s cutie mark/talent is candy making, but like Lyra, it was never really her main passion. When Bonbon was young, one of her close friends suddenly went missing without a trace. Bonbon watched as the search efforts dwindled over time, slowly drawing to a halt. She never forgot, and swore to dedicate her life to solving mysteries and uncovering secrets, a mission that would eventually lead her to a job at the Equestria Bureau of Investigation, or E.B.I for short.  
While many of the theories the E.T.E.T focused their investigation efforts on were bogus, a few of them contained more harsh truths than the general pony public was ready to realize and come to terms with. This flagged Lyra’s group, and by proxy Lyra, as a potential threat to Equestrian national security, causing them to catch the eye of the E.B.I.  
Bonbon was working as a low-level agent in the E.B.I when her boss assigned her to head the task-force looking into the group.  
As she’s looking into the group, she inevitably comes across Lyra. Bonbon ends up going undercover, using the alias “Sweetie Drops” she poses as a pony interested in joining the group. First, she sent a letter asking to join their letter service, to which Lyra responded with a friendly invite to the next meetup that weekend…

Despite being a conspiracy nut, Lyra herself is actually a pretty trusting and naive pony. She believes all of the theories, not just the true ones…  
Time passes, and as it always goes Bonbon and Lyra find themselves falling for each other. All the stuff that seemed so important to them, the conspiracies, the job, the case, it all fades into the background of what is clearly their main story….a love story.  
So, BonBon finds herself in an impossible situation. She ends up negotiating a deal with the E.B.I that results in Lyra disbanding the conspiracy group, while also pardoning everyone of any charges. Bonbon had become disenchanted with her job and the organization she worked for, spending time with Lyra had caused her to see a side of the organization she could have never dreamed of, and she felt disgusted by her entire part in it. Ponies in her position weren’t usually just allowed to quit, but the deal Bonbon managed to make would include her “retirement” along with a severance package that any of her peers would be jealous of. But, all that depended on her getting Lyra to agree with the deal…which first required Bonbon to come clean about her real identity.  
At first, Lyra was totally betrayed. She considered never talking to Bonbon again…but quickly realized she could barely stomach the thought, let alone go through with that. The more she thought about it…if the group really was in the danger Bonbon said, maybe she should take the deal, stop everything before it got too serious. She never meant for any of this to happen, she was just interested in conspiracies as mysteries, she never thought any of it could be…well…so real. The more Lyra thought, the more overwhelmed she became, and eventually, she broke down and sent a tearful letter to Bonbon. The small mare showed up at her doorstep at a record pace, out of breath and soaked from the storm outside. They both had tears in their eyes, and both broke down in front of the other. Lyra confessed how she was feeling, her fears, and how she felt that everything had gotten so out of her control so fast. Bonbon tearfully replied she’d been feeling the same way for a while now, since she’d begun the investigation everything had been spiraling more and more out of her control. She’d also discovered things about her job and the E.B.I she could have never imagined, things they’d done in the name of peace and justice that everypony needed to stay in the dark about…“for their own good” they said. It was all too much for both of them so they both decided that night: They’d take the deal.  
After everything was settled the two were relocated to Ponyville, where they end up buying an old flat above a confectionary store and then fix both up into a wonderful happy home and family-owned business combo. Both Lyra and Bonbon sometimes think about their old lives, but with those memories now tinged with regret, they try not to. With how happy their new lives are, it’s very easy to forget everything else…especially when the light of their lives little Jasper Jade is born. It’s hard to regret something that resulted in something so wonderful.  
Lyra makes music that’s a combination of classical and experimental, incorporating rare/obscure percussion instruments like the hand pan, steel drum, and kalimba, also known as the hoof harp. She still makes music after Jasper is born, though her main focus becomes being a stay at home mom.  
Meanwhile, Bonbon is more of a business mare, never losing that hardened edge she gained during her years at the E.B.I. She runs Bonbon’s Delectable Delights like a captain steering a warship, directing them on a path straight towards the DESTRUCTION of Sugarcube Corner, which has been stealing more and more business from them since that horrible cotton candy horse, who she only refers to as “Piggy” Pie, took over. Lyra has told Bonbon many times that’s not Pinkie’s name and she’s being really rude and aggressive for no good reason, especially since Sugarcube Corner is a pastry shop, not a candy store, so they’re not even really the same market. To this, Bonbon accuses Lyra of being a dirty Equestria-hating traitor who’s clearly sleeping with the enemy, to which Jasper chimes in “Twaitor!!” in her little 6-year old voice and pelts Lyra with mints from the front desk.  
ANYWAY that’s my little thing…this is an outline skeleton that i wanna return to and probably do more sketches/writing fleshing the whole thing out but for now..enJOY. i have more Jasper content in the works . i love all three of these lesbians so much. it’s a whole lesbian family
