With the few tried an experiment on today’s youth on windows 95 when those also learn they can run windows 95 or 98 on windows 8 or 10 as an app.

Vista was very unstable for me, and unacceptably slow on a desktop machine with 4GB RAM. Windows 7 was so much faster on the same hardware that it was no contest.
Vista was originally intended to be M$’s flagship product to push C#, for which there was a brief fad and which is now being, mercifully, forgotten. Vista is a slow buggy memory-leaking resource hog because it’s all C#, all the way down to the device drivers.
Well I’m certainly not going to argue that 7 wasn’t a vast improvement, because it definitely was, no question. And yes, Vista definitely had some irritating performance issues. But I still don’t think it was quite as bad as it sometimes gets a reputation for. At least not compared to appropriately lambasted atrocities like ME.

Should have Millenium or Vista on there
Apropos of nothing, I feel like Vista’s bad reputation is a bit undeserved. I mean it was definitely a bit of a resource hog and the annoying user account control was overprotective bordering on neurotic, but I had a computer that ran it for many years with very few if any problems.
 
Millennium, on the other hand, definitely deserved the hate it got. No question.
