I love that you appreciate A Bird in the Hoof. It's the only epsiode in the show where the source of conflict is one of Fluttershy's strengths rather than a weakness. It's a refreshing rewatch after all these years. Also, it may have been a bit on the cartoonish side, but it was also nice that it showed Fluttershy having the knowledge and capabilities to properly care for many of kinds of animals. Something she unfortunately ends up losing as later seasons turn her into a glorified babysitter when needs the local vet for any of the hard work, when she had never needed it before.
