The problem here is the ambiguity of their AWARENESS.
. Are the villains aware of the fact that they are fosilized? [Chrysalis just started another attack/rage, Tirek (old & depowered) just cover in fear, Cozy MAY have felt her tail/flank "frozen" for a split second (she was NOT looking)].
-> It is quite plausible that they were expecting "destruction" (ray of death), rather than forced sleep [they are not "spirits" like Discord, they can not "listen" thoughts/spoken_words through the astral plane].
. Are the villains aware of the presence of Twilight Sparkle? [Even if each one realized that they are "dreaming" & that the other 2 are in the same situation...]
-> Do they "sense" the sudden introduction of Twilight as another mind, or confuse her with a dream character? (same with the rest of the mane six).
. Is Cozy Glow trying to "manipulate" Twilight (previously), Rarity & Fluttershy... or HERSELF?
-> Even if she was quite "comfortable" with the idea of being EVIL; she may still have the need to "rationalize" her deviancy [for a Mastermind, as long as it follows a logical sequence, it is fine]. There may be no "Mom" at all in her REAL memories (hence why she does not have a face).
