Description

Sorry if the shading on the lanterns weren’t enough for your liking. I should have probably drew this picture when I had the motivation but I guess I should be thankful I’m experiencing happiness again. I know I’m drawing and story telling for vent art reasons and yet, I drew this because I was thinking of whoever was reading this story I made up and they’re waiting for the next one to come out.

I think so anyways. People could just be looking at this picture without knowing this whole description and say “that’s a neat looking picture” or “what terrifying abomination of a pixel art”. Sorry again if the quality of the story might be lesser than what you think.

Part 4 is here
–––––
The stallion felt that the distance between him and the shattered lantern was very far so he sat down on one side of the corridor. His lantern clinked at the contact of the metallic floor. He was careful not to tip over the lantern in fear that the glass may crack if it fell. The mere thought of the lantern sent a shiver up his spine. He never once thought in his whole life that a lantern could break.

The lantern he held was one of the only source of light in these dark and dreary hallways. He thought back to the ponies he last met. The traitorous mare, the kind stranger, and… her. He began to worry about their status too. Were their lamps broken? He didn’t care much for the mare that betrayed him but she held his original lantern. The lamp that was placed right next to him when he first awoke in this place to roam the corridors.

The stranger was the next on his worries. Surely he would be careful not to drop his lantern. The stranger sounded smart enough. The stallion hoped they could meet again someday. Would they still be able to recognize him?

Then there was her. The mare whose lantern was already broken by the time they first met. If her lantern light was already dim the moment they found each other then she must have been very clumsy. One more hit, and the lantern may have broke. Switching out the lanterns was a good move in the end after all. The lantern that was formerly in his possession given to the hooves of the mare. Maybe she could be more careful now that she has been given another chance and a better lamp.

The stallion laid down to get a closer look at the dimly lit lamp. It looked like an average lantern. No etched words in the sides and the glass that separates the flame from the air felt thick. The handle was made with some sort of metal. That was certain as when he would accidentally lick the handle he would get a taste of metal. What kind of metal was what he doesn’t know.

Another thing that he doesn’t have an answer to was where was the lamp getting it’s fuel. It should have run out by now. Even his former lantern didn’t run out after years of journey. Maybe it was magic? Some sort of rune? If it’s magic, then why can’t he do magic with his horn?

Could it be the thick glass? It could be possible that the air that surrounded the stallion and the lamp disrupted magic. The stallion was lost in thought but before he could continue, he let out a yawn. It was time for him to go to sleep in the dreaming world and wake up. He stretched out his forelegs then hindlegs and laid down as comfortable as he could on the metal floor.

Soon, he was drifting off into sleep. The flame that was in the middle of the lantern swirled and danced. The flames eased the eyes of the sleepy stallion and he slept. He peeked out one more time before accepting the need to sleep.
