I don’t care what others say,I will always consider this to be the most beautiful piece of art.

Its a behavior I’ve observed most commonly in western society ever since social media was made. Imagine someone getting fired from their job or bullied because an off color post they made 10 years ago was discovered. That’s how people think now. They don’t want to help people. They want to punish the “other.”
Its sad because I’m old enough to remember growing up to the original western pop culture that have heroes who don’t give up on people. Like Brave Star, He Man, She Ra, Spiderman, Luke Skywalker, etc. Western culture no longer have heroes like these.

This is cute. ’Nuff said.
Seems like a bunch of you have given up on Sprout. Did y’all skip over huge chunks of FiM? Discord, Starlight, Trixie, the majority of the Changelings, Sombra (in IDW canon) and others far worse than Sprout have been redeemed.
I think you missed the point that everypony is capable of great good, and great evil. It’s up to us to better ourselves, but also to lend a hoof or an ear to someone who is struggling. We can’t do much good alone, now can we?
You don’t have to like Sprout, but he at least deserves a chance. Values can change over time. Hearts can be swayed. Don’t give up on Sprout.

No. Because the movie deliberately spent many precious minutes of its run time to show Sunny, Hitch and Sprout were friends as kids. There was a time skip but nothing implies they drifted apart. Nothing was shown or mentioned. To say they drifted apart instead of staying the implied status quo at the start of the movie (which is they are friends) is not occam’s razor. You’re imagining a scene that didn’t happen or was implied that they drifted apart simply based on Sprout’s brash personality.

So greeting someone you have known for years civilly and using their name is enough to be friends with someone?
Treating someone civilly is not the same as being friends with someone. And on Sprout’s end, not blowing up at someone in every interaction you have with them is also not the same as being friends with them. At no point are they shown behaving as friends towards each other as adults. And on the town’s end, true, they didn’t treat her badly, but they didn’t treat her positively, either, before the presentation. Civil behaviour is not the same as friendship.

Sunny said “Hi Sprout” to him when he caught up. Here’s the thing, why the heck would Sprout be happy with Sunny when its his job to protect Canterlogic and he perfectly knows Sunny is going to go there and break the laws like she does every year. If that was my job, I wouldn’t be happy with Sunny either. You can’t say they’re not friends just because Sprout’s personality is different from Hitch.
No one in town treats Sunny badly. You don’t see anyone do that until she started breaking the law at the presentation. When Hitch said he’s going to stop being friends with Sunny, it means he’s finally going to stop being lenient with her and stop letting her off the hook for breaking laws every year just because they’re friends. He shouldn’t even be doing that in the first place. That’s nepotism.

True, Sunny does treat Sprout civilly through the film, and there is no particularly harsh interaction between them. Admittedly, the aftermath of Sprout’s actions is yet to be covered in canon, so that could go either way. That being said, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are still friends into adulthood: there is nothing in their interaction which indicates they are friends, especially for characters who have known each other for that long - contrast with Sunny and Hitch - and Hitch refers to himself as the last friend that Sunny has in town.

There’s no evidence in the movie that Sunny has ill feelings towards Sprout. People even assume the town is mad at Sprout but there’s no evidence of that in the movie. There is evidence that since childhood, Sunny, Sprout and Hitch are friends. There’s also a time skip but they stayed friends even though Sprout’s job is to enforce the town’s bylaws and Sunny breaks tons of them every year.

@hironakamura
And that’s the point: that happened before you were friends, and before you grew up and matured as per your previous post. And there is the understanding that between you it is done in jest. I doubt you could make that claim between Sunny and Sprout based on what is canon so far.
I probably could (and should) have summarised this as the example of you and your friends being of different religions not being a particularly good one, because you have not let that come between yourselves (or appear to have done anything to indicate that it might), whereas these two have.

Have you and/or your friends, specifically within your friendship group (i.e. they are also friends with each other, not mutually exclusive friends with you), advocated, and come damn near close to instigating, war against the respective other religion to their own?
Both yes and no. We did when we were in school. But that was before we were friends. But when we became friends at work, we still do it. Mostly for fun.

Sunny won’t be civil with Sprout because she refuses to be civil with racists.
Hitch calls Sunny a hypocrite. She talks about harmony and kindness, but he guesses that only applies to ponies who agree with her views.
Sunny tells Hitch to look up Karl Popper’s The Paradox of Tolerance.

@hironakamura
No I am not. I said it was more reflective of Sprout’s intent than the relationship, and differences seen beyond, between your groups of friends. Not that it was a perfect analogue.
And, again, you have not adressed the initial question raised (before you referred to a terrorist group, which I used merely as an example of those willing to dole out harm based their beliefs), which I have added additional context to describe the meaning of ‘conflict’:
Have you and/or your friends, specifically within your friendship group (i.e. they are also friends with each other, not mutually exclusive friends with you), actively belittled each other for their faith?
and
Have you and/or your friends, specifically within your friendship group (i.e. they are also friends with each other, not mutually exclusive friends with you), advocated, and come damn near close to instigating, war against the respective other religion to their own?

Oh that’s the problem. You’re comparing Sprout to the terrorist group. He’s not an “other.” He is just an earth pony. He is one of them.
People exaggerate the things that Sprout did forgetting the mane 6 of g4 and even Spike did way more horrible things to Ponyville. Using mind control spells, poisoning a town, destroying Sugarcube Corner or Carousel Boutique.
People would argue that the mane 6 only did it as a mistake but refuses to apply the same reasoning to Sprout who believed in things no differently than any earth pony in the movie less Sunny. Sprout knew what it meant to stand up for what you believed in. No difference from Sunny who stole, trespassed and constantly breaks their town bylaws because of what she believes in.
