…I don’t even remember where I got this, but it was my understanding that the author was pressured by his readers to make the novel darker and more “mature”, whilst ironically the direction for the movie is closer to his original vision.

You laugh at that scene in the movie where Dennis got eaten to death by a small Spitter Dilophosaurus in the jeep, and I have to admit that it is kinda funny, especially with that slime ball getting what he deserved; but the novel’s Spitter was Jaguar spotted and twice as big. And of course, there’s Nedry’s fate IN said novel. …Let’s just say it would’ve made the JP movie either rated(At best) R, or(at worst) NC-17.
