Also any theories for why the Young Six can fit multiple Elements unlike the Mane?

Obviously, they wanted a more diverse set of episodes when things progression to the eighth season. Considering that continuing the Starlight’s story will be more controversial, like how to arrange Starlight’s new relationship with Twilight’s. And even those who want to be a star-studded princess don’t necessarily want her to only be the second princess I guess.
So they created the young six and other new worldview.Even if they were short-lived.

The higher ups stated they wanted FIM to continue for 5 more years in 2014 and to wrap things up early in developing Season 7 long before the Young Six were conceptualized. They knew the series wouldn’t get to develop them/this further.
