Yes, I’ve seen those - that was why I’d suggested quite some long while back that Glittershell would fit in with the WWBA cast. You explained several reasons why you didn’t want to use him, the main one being not having permission from his creator.
Yeah, I started doing things with the OCs of a couple people, that I thought were neat. But I quickly realized that I’d rather use my own characters, so I can portray them however I want without passing it by someone else.
(the owners of the OC in After Hours was perfectly lovely, by the way. I just decided that it was better not to have someone else involved with my writing stuff.)

The other OC that I thought could be interesting in this series was Glittershell, given that there’s something of a theme of alternate sexuality here. But Stellarator has already pointed out that it’s not practical for him to use that character.

I’ve read most of it a couple times… and I loved “After Hours at Carousel Boutique” with cute Cold Front, but being another persons OC, unable to use again, be nice a cameo just a scene or two in this one. (Also Rarity teasing with ‘next time’ is mean.)

Thanks. I’ve read the comic completely and I’m working on about the 3rd or 4th time reading it. However, it has been several months since I read it and Part 58 wasn’t posted when I last read it so I’m looking forward to getting there and seeing what you’re talking about.
I will never get used to hearing that someone has been interested enough in the series to read it more than once. XD
I’m glad you found it interesting enough to do so.

@MviluUatusun
I think she had her sights on him as just a little ‘boy toy’ but her views might change a bit later, I don’t want to spoil it, but Part 58, Page 4, is really cute between them.

The more I see Adagio and Peach together, I think about a 40ish cougar woman who sets her sights on a very innocent young man in his late teens and decides to make him her “boy toy” and the young man is embarrassed by the things she wants him to do but enjoys it so much that he can’t tell her no.

I mean, it sounds like a euphemism for having an erection, if I had to guess.
That would have been good, but no, as far as I know the word has no meaning like that (altho I gather from my Essex relatives that an “easy” girl is referred to as a farthing, on the grounds that anyone can ride her, like a bicycle. That comes from the name penny-farthing for an old-style bicycle with a large front wheel and small trailing wheel - which, as it happens, are not at all easy to ride).
I just used it in the sense of a coin, specifically one which was essentially worthless so relatively pointless for Juice to have in his pockets.

Juice had a farthing in his pocket
I honestly don’t remember seeing that. Do enlighten me as to what it means?
Yeah, I’m American, I just grew up with enough British media and books that a few Britishims accidentally stuck.
My husband is Canadian, though. So I’ll just blame him for “colour”…even though he spells it the American way. XD

My spelling? I do use the commonwealth spelling of some words. I’m not sure why I learned them that way, but I have to pause to think to type “color” instead of “colour”. shrug emoji
Yeah, I’ve been wondering about why you use the English English spelling instead of American. It’s obviously not Strine, and you haven’t reacted to some Britishism’s I’ve snuck in (like saying Juice had a farthing in his pocket), and you don’t really seem Canadian, eh, so I couldn’t figure it out.

That’s fair. I was thinking in terms of the precise question, not the bigger point. Derp. XD

The things that come to mind are weapons, armour, and horses, depending on the culture and era.
Hmmm, not sure any of those would have been widely available when they first appeared - seems they’d have been only for royalty, or the top of the aristocracy for some while before becoming more available to the merely wealthy.
However, going off on a tangent, your spelling intrigues me…

May I just say that I love the fact that my silly little comic of cartoon horse people fucking has attracted a readership that has conversations like this. XD
While I’m sure they exist, I’m having a hard time thinking of something novel (outside clothing) which would have been widely available to the youth of even the upper classes, until fairly recent times.

Every heard “back in my day, we just read a book?” Well this person thinks the 1400’s invention of the movable type printing press is a modern kids’ thing.
“the kids these days and their modern things” is as old as civilization. There are records of at least one ancient Greek philosopher (I think Socrates but don’t quote me) complaining that the damn kids these days are writing everything down instead of memorizing everything like we did in my day, and it’s ruining their memories. And so on for basically every era for which we have records. Damn kids!
But like I said, for plot purposes I have to assume that a naturally long lived creature would be more adaptable, or else they would spend almost their entire lives bewildered and flailing.

You know how some people complain about “the youth today with their iPhones and TikToks?” Imagine someone old enough to complain about “the youth today with their tick tocks” who means the pendulum clock as an unnecessary modern invention.

Without disputing your main point, which is valid, it’s perhaps worth considering that iPhones and Tiktok, being cheap (relatively) or free, are available to just about everyone. In the 1600’s a pendulum clock would have been a toy for the extremely wealthy, perhaps analogous to a Lear jet today. Books, likewise, were expensive for their first 300 years - a library of 200 or so books, like Samuel Pepys’s, was the mark of a very wealthy man, something to be bequeathed to his alma mater.

The last 1000 years is a long time in terms of human history.

Benjamin Franklin’s experiments with electricity were 270 years ago. So a thousand-year-old has lived 3/4 of their life without the knowledge of electricity.
And that’s just one perspective. I can’t even imagine transplanting an ancient Greek’s “a boy for fun, a woman for reproduction” mindset into the modern world.
As someone who sees himself ossifying, I’ve wondered about that quite a bit. I think a big part of it is that for a younger person, everything is new and takes work to understand, whereas for an older person there are things they thoroughly understand and are comfortable with, and just don’t see a need to understand something different. There’s no penalty in energy for the young person, they’re going to have to put the effort in one way or another. The older person would rather expend the energy somewhere else, rather than repeating what they’ve already done.
As a software developer, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a better description of my life.

It’s worth noting that ancient Greece, as I understand it, had its own sexual taboos. Like if there was penetration it had to be the older man penetrating the younger. Doing it the other way was scandalous. So most cultures have their different hangups. I don’t know if they were bothered about women being gay (or doing gay things) or not, and now I’m curious.
Your model for why opinions might ossify as you get older is interesting and thought provoking, honestly.
