The words a tad different, but more than anything it just helps it to be it’s own standalone thing. WHat is being said is basically the exact same thing. It’s not a bad edit either, though it is noticeble that it’s been changed.  
I’d also think the artist, having drawn this is just as fed up with the DWM guys.

This is actually kinda funny in the context of the original story, but it’s still a crappy edit done without permission.

…What is this “edit” you speak of? Because, even judging from this person’s dA page, they DO draw less “wholesome” pony art, which does seem to include foals/young girls as a focal point of sexuality. And that’s just what’s on dA.

Also, no - this ISN’T still a “thing” on deviantArt. Most of the comments you’ll see about DWM submissions there will pretty much amount to “Shut up already!”. As for tumblr, if there is anyone arguing about it, they certainly aren’t anyone that anyone else gives a shit enough about to bother listening to.
