Twilight is tired. It’s been months since the outbreak began, there has been no progress in her research, Fluttershy is still missing, and she’s had to say goodbye to so many friends/loved ones/subjects- All while Luna won’t answer her letters. She’s not just losing faith in finding a way out of this, but in humanity(or….ponykind? ig?) itself. She doesn’t feel like she can trust or be close to anyone, because she knows it’s very likely she’ll lose them.

But if only emotions were that easy.

Outwardly, Twilight is ruthless and unkind. She sees her actions as a necessary evil - that she HAS to turn away ponies from the safehold, that she has to experiment on the bodies of what used to be her subjects, that she has to be tough and strong and show no faults. But….Rainbow is a vulnerability she just can’t shake.
