I am worried that that’s going to be all of Season 4 and EQG. It probably won’t be that bad, but Season 3 showed me that the writing staff isn’t infallible.
Oh come on. I admit that i dont actually dislike Shining or Cadance, but i would like them a lot more if Twilight hadnt just spawned a brother (despite it being borderline against her damn character concept) and Equestria an unexplained princess, and if the fact that Hasbro can and is willing to just order new characters that fit incredibly awkwardly so they can sell toys doesnt make you feel anxious i dont know what possibly could.
What happens when the show makers cant twist the next one into something good? What happens when we end up with someone that looks like they belogn in a bad fanfiction?

In all seriousness, im half in and half out of the fandom as it is. I keep up (and donate to) pony artists/tumblrs etc, i read decent amounts of fics, contribute to message/image boards etc. and basically stay as involved as you could really expect there.
However, my actual attendance of the episodes is pretty poor. Ive actually not finished a couple of episodes from season 1! Season 2 i skipped one or two, and season three ive not watched more episodes than i have. Im still vaguely aware of the plots - but ive had no desire to actually watch them. Season 3s finale still hasnt been watched, and i dont intend to, and i dont intend to watch any season 4 unless a premise particularly interests me.
I am honestly of the belief that FiM has excellent characters and animation but that its writing is mostly terrible. Certainly its nowhere up to par with Avatar (though i like MLP more) which managed to keep a consistent universe, and ongoing plot and have excellent character growth (compare and contrast Zukos ascent to royalty with Twilights and youll get what i mean, i know they arent trying to be Avatar or that kind of show, but still). I also think the morals of the show are totally fucked up, see Trixie lying vs Rarity lying or how Rainbow treats the magic of friendship with Gilda. So in that way, i just am not a fan of the show.
On the other hand i love the fan works that have been created, i love seeing how people reinterpret these ponies, and i think im far too into the shows fan culture to be considered not a fan.
So what the hell am i? In or out of the fandom? I certainly wouldnt be here if it wasnt for awesome brony artists and writers producing things i consider of higher quality than the show itself. But im still keeping up!
I think for now ill stay where i am. Awkwardly standing in the door, cheering when pinkie pie tells a funny joke and rolling my eyes when yet another nightmare inducing plothole or moral mistep is made. Then crying at the next HasbrOC.

Really disappointed to see Joseco do this. I thought everyone had realised by now that the thing truly makes the show special are the characters, and the fans. The writers dont know shit, and we shouldnt care what they do.
