oh damn, that. Yeah, I can’t believe how far the writing fell. I wonder who got booted from the team that was essential, because they need them back. Yanno I kept bringing up examples of good shows gone bad over Equestria Girls and S3 but somehow I forgot entirely about Korra. That’s probably not a good sign in its favour.

Granted, my grammar needs improvement, but I still stand by my opinion. As for the whole LOK thing, I meant that the romance between Twilight and Flash was handled much better in this movie than the romance between Mako and Korra in Legend of Korra (guess I should clarify better. And keep a grammar corrector near by when I post again)

Legend of Korra had Twilight Sparkle crushing on a male character? I need to re-watch it, then!

The Twilight crush was handled ALOT better than in Legend of Korra.
 
I saw no reason to be threatened by this movie. Alot of fans were getting butthurt before the TRAILERS came out. I’m glad I chose to stay optimistic and put my faith in those working on it because it was a good moive. Could it have been better? Yes, but so can everything in the world. Anything and everything can/could be better. Nothing is perfect, but Im happy with the movie I got.

Maybe, if everyone in this fandom was handed copies of the comic books, the drama wouldn’t be so bad because many would have their minds preoccupied as opposed to having nothing to do. People in the first world complain when they have nothing better to do.

Y’know, it’s funny, because the only thing I hate about Equestria Girls is the hinted crush for Twilight Sparkle. That’s what separates Friendship is Magic from every other girls cartoon out there. There’s barely any romance, with Hearts and Hooves Day being an exception. Having Twilight with a love interest would make FiM just as plain and normal as Barbie or some other girls cartoon. Without that hinted crush part, Equestria Girls would be much better.

Dude…seriously, thank you for that clarification of “canon” vs “continuity”.

Can everyone just go ahead and shut right on up about McCarthy “lying”? She doesn’t owe any of us a damn thing, and if she wants to pour nonsense in our ears about what’s happening or not happening, that’s her friggin’ prerogative. “Lying” implies somebody owing you “the truth” to begin with; if she says we’re not gettin’ Sea Ponies in S4 and BAM! there’s a bunch-a helpful-as-can-be ponies floppin’ around all over the floor of the Season Premiere, that is not lying, that is bullshitting, and when you’re talking to a writer about something that hasn’t come out yet, they are not the same thing. Did people think J.J. Abrams was “lying” when he was all coy about who the villain would be in Star Trek: Into Whiteness? He was being coy, get over it.

It pisses me off when The Kids These Days make me have to say things like “The Kids These Days”, but when the hell did fandoms stop understanding what “canon” means? EqG may be a corporate-mandated insult to the collective intelligence of all fans young and old, but it’s a Hasbro-produced movie in theaters not-very-near you; it is canon, whether you like it or not. The IDW comics are also canon. The word you are looking for is continuity. When McCarthy says EqG won’t have any effect on FIM and won’t be mentioned in the show in any way, that doesn’t make it “not canon”, that makes it a separate continuity. If it is mentioned, but never has any effect on the show other than being referred to, then it is a side story, a separate storyline that takes place alongside the main story in the same shared continuity. Side stories are often added after the fact in order to fill in plot holes or expand on dangling plot threads; Mobile Suit Gundam is famous for side stories, with some of them– like 08th MS Team– even getting an entire series. She’s telling us– as directly as she’s allowed to by Hasbro– that we can all put our pants back on and calm the hell down, this movie that fans are bitching at her about won’t screw up the television show that fans are bitching at her about.

Because of how it will influence fanwork, pro-Eg might be tempted to put Snip and Snail in antagonist position (like DT silver spoon grunt), create lot of return to human world stories and stuff like that. Those who fight for or against it know they won’t change anything in the official production but fanwork who is more intended to please fan themselves can be influenced by the popularity or unpopularity of EG.

The movie ended with everything back to statues quo. The only things that it “might” affect in Se4 is that Twilight is a little more confident about wearing her crown, and we might have a crush to deal with ( though it has been stated that he is not a character in Se4 ( makes me wonder if there going to pull a Pee Wee on him ( we see a series of photos on the wall and one of them is Flash Sentry introducing Twilight to his girlfriend ) ). However I would not be surprise if Sunset Shimmer ( now a good guy ) returns in later seasons ( if Se4 is not the last one ).
 
So why does it matter if it’s canon or non-canon.

Well, um, actually, it quite literally did take place before Season 4…
