It could be used in a game, but the world of game development is tough. Almost nobody is multitalented in every area so game projects have to be team efforts if they are to be decent at all. Team efforts can be clumsy and at worst, stagnate when people can’t get together and accomplish something. You risk having people leave projects due to circumstances, even more so if it is purely volunteer work.
 
Then you have games being C&D’d when they start becoming promising. Even when we’re dealing with original game projects, games don’t tend to make it to the finish line.
 
But I can at least say, that I make money off making this sort of stuff so some of the game projects I’m paid to work on, might make it to the finish line since we don’t have to deal with volunteering-in-your-free-time bullshit that can slow things down. None of those commissions are involving ponies though..
