if this included sonic too maybe mario and sonic on twilight cause all are main characters luigi and shadow on luna cause all are second best and they all faced their dark side. don’t forget that luigi has dream powers too. peach and amy on cadance cause of the colors pink on them. and bowser and eggman on celestia cause well… i guess they all are… ykw i don’t give a shit. if bowser’s on celestia then so will eggman. maybe in an ironman suit of some sort. actually yeah ironman suit for eggman. what do u people think of my ideas

i think galaxy and sunshine were probably the closest thing to have an actual storyline in the main mario universe.which is not a bad thing i mind you.

I agree, but I don’t mind having some cinama-scenes, and such in Mario. The ones in “Super Mario Galaxy” were pretty good, especially the epic Doomship attack on the Mushroom Kingdom in the intro. (Even if they removed the voice acting from “Super Mario Sunshine,” which admittedly was a bit cheesy anyways.)

if one thing i love about Miyamoto is that he tend’s to put more focus on gameplay and design than anything and i like how he said to let the fanbase of mario make imagination of how he got to mushroom kingdom and stuff like that.

Yeah, but even those characterizations aren’t always consistent. (Especially Bowser, as you point out. One game he’s a complete monster, the next game, he’s a bumbling galoot.) Like for instance, the Luigi from the Paper Mario games, seems alot more braver then the Luigi from the “Luigi’s Mansion,” and “Mario & Luigi RPG” games. (Though, a bit more naive, as well.) Peach also seemed a bit different in Mario RPG, and a bit more independent on some parts. (Like when she snuck out, to join Mario’s adventure.) Just depends on what the game’s setting calls for.
 
Not saying Mario games need to be “consistent” anyways, considering most of them aren’t very story-based. (Aside from the RPGs, which could be considered separate canons, as well as the same, if the player wishes.) So I don’t care about that kinda thing.
 
Miyamoto pretty much wants to keep them back-story-less for the most part anyways. He said he prefers to leave some things about the characters to the player’s imagination. His most fleshed-out characters are oddly the “Star Fox” ones, but they aren’t quite as popular as his other game characters. (Shame ’cause “Star Fox 64” is still one of my favorite games.)

Luigi’s is either viewed as the more cowerdly,inferior,weaker willed or just plain under appreciated bro.  
Bowser goes from Butt monkey,to badass,to legitimate threat ,to being the closest thing to the Devil.  
Peach is usually a bystander or the kidnapee,unless it’s Sports day.  
Mario is…Mario
 
And let’s not get started with the realationsips,we don’t even need the writers for alternate views about them.
