Oh come on now. I agree that compassion is necessary, but nuclear weapons have been crucial in keeping peace. In a MAD scenario, nobody even tries to shoot anyone.

Somalia is a starving hell hole because of fighting and aggression.

The US, UK, EU and other first-world nations are relatively prosperous because people work together in companies, engineering teams, scientific teams, etc.

We can be as warlike and terrifying as we like, but I think the only consequence is we’ll wind up looking more like Somalia if we do than a real first-world nation.

A civilization where every individual is willing to lend a helping hand will uplift itself and its allies to the point where those who are unallied with them will find themselves left behind.

*Compassion is not weakness, it is strength.

I think it the ultimate irony that the man who’s physics allowed for, and recommendation to the President warned of the possible creation of the atomic bomb, was a German Jew who had become a citizen of the U.S, because of the rise of the Third Reich.

It’s telling, though, that despite how mighty and powerful the Third Reich had swiftly become, they didn’t even last long enough to reap the consequences of losing the support of that man. It was Imperial Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki that got to reap that whirlwind.

Also,
>measuring the technology of a spaceship by its size.
’tis a silly thing. Size has little to do with the capability of a craft.

Oh, mankind. You have such potential.

Yet so many humans squander it on their lusts, on a pursuit of pleasure, on frivolities and on power and selfishness. Our world is run by those who have sought so much power for themselves, but have lost sight of what truly gives mankind our glory;

Not our power. Not our might. But our potential to be good, to uplift those around us, and in so doing, to ascend, ourselves.

The glory of the human race is not well depicted in an image of a Prime minister in power, or a general adorned with medals.

The glory of the human race is depicted best in this picture, here.

How much more glorious a poor, good man is, than a powerful and corrupt officer.

The world’s most powerful air force pales in comparison to the magnificence of an outstretched hand.
