It’s based on her cutie mark being a yellow star, like on the Alaskan flag, and her resembling Raven who herself was thought to resemble a ponified Sarah Palin. Quoting from source, however:  
“not a name anyone else uses, nor one I encourage use of”  
So I’m removing the tag.

VioletCLM is doing her own interpretation of the background humans. Don’t ask me how she comes up with these names, but she tends to deviate on lesser known ponies like Starlight (she named Starshine) and Sophisticata here (also known as Baked Alaska despite the fact there is probably no Alaska in Equestria and if there was it would be a horse pun like Neigh-laska.)
