I can send you one of mine. You want modern or classic?
Just saw both versions of the 8-Bit Mario amiibo at Wal-Mart today…oh god, paycheck, why aren’t you bigger enough? :(
?
You poor soul.
Also, I’m planning to get “Lego Dimensions” in January with my cash assistance; I really want the Portal pack.
I’m hoping to get the Inkling Girl from “Splatoon” on my next paycheck (my new rule being “one new figurine per paycheck”, to keep me afloat financially and not get anxious). I don’t have “Splatoon”, but I do have “Super Mario Maker” to unlock her skin…mostly, I just want a new female in my collection~
While the game itself was delayed to next April, they seem to have made more of him anyway in preparation for the original would-be release date and/or to sell alongside Falco’s release today. I know a friend has seen more Fox amiibo at his local Best Buy stores, and Toys “R” Us has him online (probably not in-store at many locations, though).
I know you said something about not wanting to shop online, but if you’re still looking, the latter actually has a 2 for $22 deal right now on top of free shipping (until tomorrow/Saturday night anyway). If it’s a problem, might be worth a try to show up to a local TRU and ask them if they could ship it to the store for you to pick up, but YMMV.
Hardcore: Memorizing movesets down to the last frame, need to re-study whenever a character is updated.
Casual: Just increase damage and use a smash attack. That’s all there is to it.
I don’t really consider myself either “casual,” or “hardcore.” I’m more-so something in-between.
Did I mention I’m a casual player?
Really? I didn’t know he was a store-exclusive… I kinda want Dr. Mario, sense I liked that game. (I want to get the new one on 3DS “Miracle Cure,” but I want to see if it will be on the “black Friday/holiday” Eshop sale for a lower price this month first.)
Well, people like “Animal Crossing,” and some like the fighter. I don’t think his moveset is “garbage” it just takes some getting used to. Pulling off the slingshot, and tree attacks take some timing, and planning. The bowling bowl SMASH also works close up to, but you have to know when to use it.
Funny enough, Dr. Mario’s the only store-exclusive amiibo that hasn’t run out of stock at all in Target.
Speaking of, why is Villager sought-out so much? He’s not “sexy” or “realistic”, and his moveset is absolute garbage. (Seriously, dropping a bowling ball on someone is a side-smash move? That MIGHT be useful if it’s on an opponent that’s below me and currently preoccupied, but since I’m always unlucky enough for the opponent to get on the same height as me…I couldn’t beat All-Star on the Wii U version, even on Easy)
Given how limited store shelves are, it does seem like the best way to get Amiibo now is through the internet.
All I ever see in the stores where I live are mostly the Mario characters, or commons ones nobody wants, or already has. And even with those, there’s a small amount of them. (Compared to the crazy-amount of “Disney Infinity,” and Lego Dimensions” ones they have, I question why stores barely have any Nintendo Amiibo in comparison.)
I’m actually quite lucky to of found several Pac Man in a store, and buy one.
I’ve had to get Palutena and Rosalina from Amazon with my tax refund this year; Jigglypuff was bought from Target’s website.
Ah, I see.
I want Fox McCloud, but it’s become impossible to find for me. (Plus, his SSB trophy pose is a li’l goofy) Though I hear rumors the new Star Fox Zero game will have AMiibo support for it. (Would love to finally have my own Arwing, I wanted a toy of one sense I was a kid after playing “Star Fox 64.”)
I said “all available”. Instead of “all”. Because I don’t have the Kirby, Fox, Villager and Captain Falcon amiibo.
Wouldn’t unlocking all those things in MK8 & Mario Maker require all the Amiibo, or are there alternate methods for them without every amiibo?
Y’know, I think the Yarn Yoshi plush amiibo looks cute.
*all the available Mystery Mushroom costumes
I used my amiibo, unlocked all available Mario Kart 8 outfits and all the Mystery Mushroom costumes in Super Mario Maker…even all my Disney Infinity figures have gold statues in the “Hall of Heroes” (Disney Originals), “Hall of Super Heroes” (Marvel) and “Hall of Galactic Heroes” (Star Wars).
Nothing wrong with taking care of things you own. I like to take care of my stuff, but I took my Amiibo out of their package.
(shakes head) People…
No, some just don’t make a lot of cash, or some just like to keep their collectables in mint-condition.
So…they’re driven by greed?
Some collectors just like to leave stuff in their display packages to keep them nice, and mint-condition. Some don’t even buy merch’ to play with, but just to have/display/decorate with, or sell later once they go up in value. (Like the “Beanie Babies” toys from the ‘90s. I think I might still have one somewhere from when I was a kid, but ironically they’re no longer in demand, and have no value, I hear.)
I’ve no idea where the fun is in finding defects and buying stocks of them to sell them later. Isn’t the point of toys to, y’know, PLAY WITH THEM? (I’m planning to sell a Whirlwind figure for Skylanders though, it’s the only one I’ve got when I got it from Target in 2011, and my plan to join the Skylanders fandom fell through when I couldn’t afford to get “Trap Team” last year)
