I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking of that scene from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. I was spoiled in advance about that character’s death but I still cried like a baby when I finally got to that point in the series. Tomokazu Sugita and Atsuko Tanaka’s voice acting and the operatic music helped a ton as well. The anime did a great job with that scene.

A TV-Y show (one that is aimed at a younger audience and aired early in the day) is different than a theatrical movie. They both have different standards in regards to what can and can’t be put on screen. Plus I’m pretty sure if Mulan were to be released today, it might have gotten a PG rating.

In my defense, I couldn’t NOT picture the music that played during Caesar Antonio Zeppeli’s death in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure playing. Once it was in my head, it stuck.
