Description

A reality bomb has detonated, scrambling the biology of Equestria`s dominant species with their alternate selves, leaving the other species conspicuously untouched. The Royal sisters have changed just as everypony else. Celestia is learning to live with the change, always keeping up her calm visage. Luna is growing oddly attached to her udders.

Same name different invention, as a fellow watcher of doctor who im sure you are familiar with the shows definition of alternate realities, with that in mind it is not unreasonable to assume there are similar/different devices with the same name [read as. forgot that was what he called it, thanks for reminding me where i heard the name] As for your 2nd question, in this case the reality bomb has two stages. The first stage is a sort of implosion which draws in all parallel universes in range [range depends on how long the device has to charge]
     
    The second effect acts like a big blender. Universe at the center of the storm survives but the others are obliterated, whatever fragments remain latch onto that center universe like bits of fluff sticking to a static charged surface. In this case many of those universes featured more sub species of ponies than we see in the show. In this post detonation world there are now six different types of ponies, celestia and luna each represent the combination of three of them

The Stalion who detonated the reality bomb that caused these changes was bonkers, and became convinced that developing to the point where one can build and activate such a device is the meaning of life. He came to this conclusion when shortly after finding the first reality bomb in the newly discovered [by sea ponies] city of Atlantis, a second was found, one that seemed to have been detonated several thousand years before. Knowing that reality as he knew and loved was a result of these devices led him to believe that they would only improve things, hense… boom.

  10. Assuming you mean the creator of the reality bombs, they were at war with another version of themselves from a parallel universe, each built a reality bomb to destroy the other. The others were faster, sent their bomb through, and created the world we all love [ironically destroying their own universe in the process] the effect the bombs had was not the one intended.

  12. When this new world was created a lot of extra chaos magic was introduced to equestria. Although he loves chaos he is also a sort of combo liver/heart for the universe. his very existence stops the chaos magic from destroying their reality by giving to control to him him but limiting the amount he can use at once. He and Twilight believe that he came into existence after the first reality bomb to control the extra chaos that their world couldn’t handle. The same has happened again, and now discord is a little busy babysitting Eris, the new co-spirit of chaos.

  4. The original Reality bomb, made by Davros, was intended to destroy all of reality besides the daleks, did the creator pay davros to alter his orginal plan?  
  5. What in the unholy mother of ass were they thinking detonating a reality bomb?
