For me, I just can’t stand annoying people. And you annoyed SmittyG way too much. If you want to continue that conversation, do it in private. He has an account here, you have too, so do things like all grown-ups do.
 
Who the cares if you know everything about BDSM and SmittyG’s “master” isn’t like that? It’s SmittyG’s fictional character, period. Ha can do whatever he wants. Deal with it. If you don’t like it, ignore his works.
 
To be honest, I personally have some experience in BDSM. I know that something wasn’t right in that story. But the story just began and I can’t do anything but waiting and giving at most small notes. The story can develop in many, and possibly interesting ways.  
No need to write lengthy treatises that nobody wants to read. That’s not cricitism, just a void showing-off.

Its so the wend the sub saids it the dom must IMMEDIATELY stop whatever they are doing. In a way its its really the sub who is in control, because they are the ones who say what’s ok or not. The dom’s role is to make sure the sub doesn’t get really hurt.

Actually, I’ll offer a piece of advice, although I’m sure Smitty’s not reading this anymore.
 
Smitty: You say you’re not an author. Talk to one. Find a fanfic where you feel that Rainbow’s perfectly in character. Find an author that understands her. A clopfic author would probably be a bonus, but there’s damn few of those where she’s in character. I think I’ve only ever read one.
 
Talk to that author. PM them, you don’t have to make it public. Get their advice before you try to continue. That secondary tumblr you set up is going to draw two things. 1)fans, who will tell you you’re doing perfectly regardless of what you do 2)haters. The people who despise what you’re doing and want you to stop. Those are bad sources of advice. Contact an author who knows RD. Talk to them. That’s the best advice I think you’re going to get.

Yeah, exactly. Just change the design of the character you see. It may be less colorful, but it fits perfectly, whatever is the content.

Frankly, it’s pretty clear that this isn’t Rainbow Dash, it’s an OC that looks like her. Read that dialogue. Can you hear it in her voice? I can’t. I can’t hear any of the dialog from this tumblr in her voice, because it’s so bloody contrary to her character.
 
It’s already an OC. IMO, Smitty should just alter the character design to make that clear and quit calling her Rainbow Dash.

@BP : I strongly agree with your comment, I already thought about the fact that RD is in Smitty’s stories and I came to a easy conclusion :  
It is not Rainbow Dash. It is Rainbow Dash Pet. The choice of this character is probably due to the colorfullness of Rainbow Dash, which is really beautiful, but obviously not to actual RD’s feelings. Also, the pleasure seems to be shared between RDP and Master. Look at this smile.  
After my analysis, this tumblr seems to be very more justified, for me.

@BigMax It’s called constructive criticism, deal with it. Just because someone makes something doesn’t mean I, or anyone else, can’t call them out if they mess up on it. Since you don’t seem to realize what’s going on, I’ve been trying to point out to SmittyG the reasons why people are complaining about his tumblr so that he can attempt to address the criticisms he feels are valid in order to improve his story.
 
When people like you cry out about any form of criticism being bad and to leave artists/authors/etc. alone, you are asking for the artist to stagnate. You don’t improve without making mistakes and learning from them. In a creative discipline, like art, it can be extremely hard to spot all of your own mistakes; even more so when the art demands a certain level of quality writing to tell a story. This isn’t something SmittyG is doing for strictly his own entertainment. He has made it clear that he has a story he wants to tell and a message he wants to communicate with that story. When people are willing to step up and take heat from SmittyG’s fan-brigade to point out flaws that are causing his story to portray the wrong message to people, they should not be told to “leave him alone”.
 
I understand that a lot of the haters seem very caustic, but if you can’t even figure out that some of us are trying to help him, then you should just shush yourself. If an artist can’t deal with taking flak for messing up, they shouldn’t be on the internet.
 
I’ve already elaborated on why Dash is a poor choice for this scenario, in large part due to the difficulty of “breaking” her.Another problem is that people like Rainbow Dash because of her ego, attitude, stubbornness, etc. Those are key facets of her personality and trying to strip those from her leaves you with a character that is not actually Rainbow Dash. Dash would never even agree to being in this type of relationship as it is contrary to her nature and her love of personal freedom. It is simply not a believable scenario as people with her type of personality do not willingly take on submissive roles like this. If anything, Dash should be the “Master” based on her personality and mind-set. Ask any writer worth their salt and they’ll tell you thatForcing a character into a situation that directly contradicts the character’s personality is flat out bad story design. If an established character does not act or behave in accordance with their established personality then, as a story-teller/writer, you have screwed up and should be using a different character to fill the role. So, by starting the story with a severely out of character Dash, SmittyG has already turned away a lot of potential readers. When you see Rainbow Dash, you expect her to act like Rainbow Dash. When that doesn’t happen, people get irritated, sometimes even angry at it. Put that together with a series of mishandled situations that gave people the impression of Dash being abused and you have the current little shit storm around this tumblr.

@BGP You’re not the only one who feels that Dash is a poor choice for this. It is one of the more obvious issues with the tumblr, though SmittyG has a thing for Dash and I suspect that played a large role in why he chose her for the role. It is very unlikely that SmittyG will swap Dash for any other character. I’d honestly expect him to just shut down the tumblr and kill the project instead of using a different character.
 
As for the full-time Master/Pet thing, I also agree that such behavior as a life-style is beyond simple bedroom fetish play. As I quipped in my initial post here, I feel that such behavior is a sign of an unhealthy mind. The trouble with it, is that it is a deep psychological desire that is often directly linked with a person’s sexuality; much like homosexuality, pedophilia, and such. It is not something that can be treated or conditioned out of someone and in most cases, due to the willingness of the submissive person, it is arguably not actively harming anyone (most dominant practitioners do indeed genuinely care about their partner and do not wish to do anything the partner is not enjoying). Like I said, it is a very complex condition that skirts many lines of abusive behavior but in most cases does not actually want to cross the lines into genuine abuse. Unfortunately, as SmittyG has demonstrated here, it is very easy to slip across those lines without realizing it.
 
I think one of SmittyG’s biggest problems is that he doesn’t seem to honestly know anything beyond cursory information about this type of mind set and how it works. Like I pointed out before, when SmittyG thought he was showing Master’s caring and firmness during the sick Dash scene, he was actually showing the exact opposite of his intended message. At the end of the day, SmittyG is an artist, not a writer or a psychology major, so I feel he really needs outside help to make this tumblr do what he wants it to do.

Oh, what the hell, BP! Just leave the artist to what he thinks is right, it’s his story after all.

He wants to break Rainbow Dash? Fine! As long as he doesn’t mix with the canonic MLP universe, he can do what he wants and doesn’t deserve to be criticized for it at all.
 
(And, by the way, RD is the perfect character to break down, but it would take a lot of time and patience. Apparently, there should be a lot of previous untold story, or else that would be a different Rainbow Dash - which would be fine too.)

Oh, my. I wasn’t aware that there were people who did this as an all-the-time thing. That… is no longer play, IMO.
 
Gliding past that, I will repeat my assertion that he’d be better-served by an OC, because Rainbow Dash is absolutely the last one who would do this. We’re talking about someone who was so terrified by the prospect of public embarrassment that she was literally in the fetal position shivering. She values her image extremely highly, and I don’t think she would ever consent to something like that.

@BGP Yes, all the time. As far as I am aware, bedroom games do not involve tying your partner up in a public viewing area as a form of “punishment”. This tumblr has every indication that it is portraying Master/Pet role-play as a full time, lifestyle type of role-play, not a simple bedroom game.
 
I was specifically addressing the inherent flaws in Smitty’s approach to the Master/Pet dynamic between Dash and the Master. Although, one thing you should understand is that this type of Master/Pet play is more than a simple bedroom game. There are a lot of psychological elements to it and many of it’s practitioners take it quite seriously, even up to treating the “pet”/“slave” as actual property and “selling” them to others. It is a deep, deep rabbit hole to venture down that will make many people uncomfortable. My impression of SmittyG’s intentions at this point, is that he has some kind of message he wants to portray in order to show that such role-play doesn’t have to be viewed as creepy or disgusting in all cases. Even by staying 100% tame and non-sexual with this tumblr SmittyG would end up garnering haters. The fact that it is NSFW, combined with his currently flawed approach, and choice of character is exacerbating things.
 
Unless I’m totally mistaken about SmittyG’s intentions, anyone who dislikes the idea of Master/Pet play as a lifestyle form of role play instead of merely a bedroom game is going to find little to enjoy about this tumblr. I’m simply trying to provide honest criticism about this tumblr with as little personal bias as I can manage. This (the Master/Pet play) is not something I practice, but it is something I know about and have a certain understanding of the psychology behind it.
 
In a nutshell, it is taking the submissive/dominance role-play and applying it to non-sexual aspects of one’s life. The reasoning is similar to standard BDSM and bondage activities in that the practitioners indulge in the restrictions/control of their partner to elicit, what they consider, stronger emotional responses due to the level of trust involved (and indeed, required) in such behavior. There’s a ton more detail to it than that, but what I’ve provided is essentially the core of the Master/Pet play being shown in this tumblr. I hope that helps clarify things.

Okay, are you talking about doing pet-play as an all the time thing here? Honestly, that’s another problem with this tumblr; the implication that he treats Rainbow like this all the time. An occasional game in the bedroom is one thing, expecting her to wear that collar 24/7, in public, is intensely, intensely creepy.

@SmittyG This is BGP from before. The more you explain, the more I’m seeing the issues in your approach. As I and others have already said, one of the core problems you face is that Dash IS headstrong and independent and you are trying to have an unnamed, unknown, human trying to break her of some of the key elements that define her character and make her loved and interesting.
 
I know that “breaking” someone is a part of the role play going on here, but you chose the worst possible character to try to break. Not only that, you are showing that you don’t understand how to teach a headstrong individual. In the getting sick scene, you played Dash’s stubbornness straight and she physically suffered for it. Trying to break someone via physical means is very difficult without resorting to outright torture. The idea of “breaking someone” is about mental and behavioral training. Allowing a stubborn person to be stubborn does not accomplish this and can actually feed their ego by letting them feel that they won by resisting. “Breaking” in this context is much like training a pet (hello there irony). You must reprimand incorrect behavior with minimal harm or else the pet will become afraid of you. But training also requires rewards for positive behavior else it simply becomes a cycle of negativity. A “master” that truly cares for their “pet” would not let him/her get sick, but instead alter the punishment when it proves ineffective. As an example, if you’ve ever seen a child misbehaving in a store while the parent does nothing but yell as the child ignores the parent, then you’ve seen ineffective punishment at work. The child is being more stubborn than the authority figure (parent) because they know that yelling is the worst that will happen and the yelling means nothing. A good parent would escalate the method of reprimanding the child until the child responds and behaves. By having your Master just shrug and walk away from Dash, he was not being firm, but instead was actually allowing her stubbornness to win. In other words, he failed to assert his authority. That she became ill because he was too weak/unknowledgeable only makes the whole thing look absurd. If he cared, he would have brought her inside. If he was actually being firm, he would have adjusted the scale of the “punishment” to something more effective. If he was both caring and firm, he would have brought her inside to administer the harsher punishment. Doing so would have kept her out of the rain (showing he cares for her health), while explaining that she had not actually won, but was instead having her punishment increased because she is still being stubborn would have kept Master “in character” as the “Master”.
 
I suspect that you really don’t want to start this whole thing over from scratch, either to alter the story or to change from Dash to another pony (even though switching from Dash would honestly improve the story’s believability). That does not make the story unworkable, just harder to craft convincingly. If writing and story telling is a weakness of yours, you may want to consider accepting outside help to craft your story. In writing circles, good editors are worth their weight in gold for offering an objective view to point out potential flaws in a story. An “editor” could help you work out some of the more noticeable problems with both your story and approach.
