Not really. I mean, it’s more than she SHOULD feel, but it’s pretty normal for a person to feel more guilt than they deserve. She’d likely feel like she could have done something sooner if she’d just noticed what was going on.

That makes more sense the main problem with this was the amount of guilt she was feeling it was just too exaggerated and made it weird the lack of a connection to Octavia was the other maybe add a little bit more about that give some information to show she has a reason to worry about her.

Uploader here. Yeah, I could have made things a bit clearer in hindsight.
 
The idea I wanted to convey is that Vinyl had her own character arc in the background of Rainbow Rocks that was a bit more dramatic than what was implied.
 
Her rationale would be “I’m supposed to be their friend, but I failed to notice they were in a serious situation for a pretty dumb reason, and we only just barely won. This is not good behavior on my part, and this is not who I want to be.” Not traumatized, per say, especially since trauma usually flows off like water in this setting. But she’d certainly feel bad and would want to make up for it, leading to a “friendship conflict” much like what we frequently see on the show. The therapy bit was meant to be a throwaway possibility, just in case I misjudged how badly this could affect someone.
 
As for the Octavia thing…yeah, that’s a pretty fair criticism. In hindsight, I just used her as a shorthand for any connection to the setting, especially since EG! Vinyl’s deepest connection is probably Spike of all people.
 
I’d been seriously considering making a fanfic or something on the subject, but for various reasons I decided that my efforts would be better spent elsewhere. So I posted this in the hopes that the idea would leave my head.
 
Regardless, this was clearly a failure of communication and thought on my part. And for that I am sorry.

Not to mention that it seems like it’s trying to imply that Octavia is her friend in some way in this universe, which isn’t a BAD thing, but they’re doing so only enough to justify their argument and not thinking deeper on the matter. She could feel guilt, but she could just as easily feel smug about it… She DID save the town, likely the world…

But to need therapy and feel that distraught makes no sense just because she didn’t notice, she did help stop them and they won, if they had lost or she somehow didn’t help in time I could understand feeling guilty but that didn’t happen as well as the fact the level of guilt described here is too much to make any sort of sense.

Feeling enough guilt to need therapy for not knowing something that no one else even knew about, I don’t get it.
