That would be my argument. There’s literally nothing stopping any mare or filly from doing whatever they want. They just generally seem to do traditionally feminine things.

I’m sure there are female guards and there is always Spitfire, and odds and ins in between. They typically just don’t.

@Niggoslav

Anarchy is a pretty backwards thing to get excited about, plus it doesn’t really state why I should watch it.

I have noticed the gender role thing, though. Like how there was one female construction worker, and I don’t think there’s any females in a military occupation. We got Commander Hurricane but the gender accuracy is a bit foggy, and Pegasopolis was a militaristic society so they maybe wanted the most bloodthirsty regardless of gender.
But even then, those ones chose to do traditionally feminine roles, it doesn’t make them adhere to them.

VIVA LA NOCTE
You should watch it, lotsa lotsa fun, my kinna government takedown indeed!

Going against gender roles sounds more apt though, as ‘progressive’ as Equestria claims to be everyone except RBD has been neatly stuffed into standard female roles. It only looks uber progressive because the next tier down in ’toonland is Beverly Hills (Bratz, Totally Spies) or the Fire&Water Tribes. Fluttershy is a nurse, Twilight is a librarian, Rarity is a designer, and Pinkie is a baker/party-planner.

I never watched V for Vendetta.

My knowledge of dystopias comes from history of the Soviet Union, the PRC, and various modern day dictatorships.

Also, I was questioning why Dash is bullied for her orientation that we know nothing about. Maybe going against gender roles would be more apt.

Orientation? What?
Usually totalitarian societies go after intellectuals, socially liberal/liberatarian, and those who get their (dissident) messages across via art.

In an alternate universe, Equestria is massively bigoted and horrible and generally dystopian. Rainbow Dash is constantly mocked and beaten for her orientation, to the point that she is terrified of equine interaction. Her only friend and guardian angel is Fluttershy, a rough and tumble badass little filly with a heart of gold and a tongue more dangerous than Empress Celestia’s death squads.
