I finally drew an Alp-Luachra in their other natural habitat! This is just a little hold-over until the next big image. I like this guy, he might need a name.
You may be surprised to learn that, including this image, only five out of twenty-five Alp-Luachra pictures have them actually doing parasite things. The rest exist because they’re just so damn cute!

Ah, I suppose that’s the missing point. I didn’t really have the gist of her personality.
The characters you linked it fits well though I’d say they’re more balanced in their schemes to where the contrast isn’t as powerful like with characters like Tirek where the red and black is the main focus from the viewer.
Mave might be more context dependent to have your reasoning for her click to the viewer.
I don’t know if he ever massaged you back with them, but I’ll ante up. Since it’s an unnatural color scheme (within the boundaries of the show at least), I find it works best with characters meant to be supernatural or surreal like Lillith or Arrhythmia, or for very dangerous creatures like Lord Tirek.
I personally really liked it for Mave because it directly clashes with her in the sense that she’s small, helpless, skittish, and cowardly, and for all intents and purposes, completely harmless.
Now that’s not to say that there haven’t been some doozies of OCs with that color scheme either though.

I’d be curious to see what examples you have on mind if your up for it, though we’re moving into rather off topic chatter from the original pic so perhaps messages if you’re up for it.

I agree - Mave and other such Alp-luachras really wear the colours the best, being amphibious parasites, the colour scheme and the species goes hand in hand.
Something smells like out-of-this-neighborhood whining. Sorry, but you’re complaining about the Alp-Luachra species on a whole based on the fact that a portion of them are coloured red and black (or maybe I misread that). That doesn’t hold up on its own, let alone with the simple fact that the only thing wrong with that colour combo is that most of the people who have used it in the past have no idea how to design a character.
Red and black done right is indeed a thing, and boy does it work when it works.
Right, the patterns in this reminded me of all the dark colored frogs I was crazy over as a kid I’ll admit.
S’long as you’re aware you’re the weirdo in liking it. I suppose since it just crawls into people’s mouths it doesn’t matter that it’s colored like Darth Maul or other poisonous amphibians.

Oh my… Well… Is just that I kinda drew her while being stressed and such and, sadly I didn’t put too much effort on her, also I don’t own a gallery here, jor that I am interested on it right now, or have the time, I am a busy gal, and well… Kinda draw whenever I find some free time…

And then I took that and extrapolated the ears to basically be ear-fins/gills, and gave them a lizard tongue.
And then they got tail penises or something.

I’ll always be one of the odd ones in that regard; I loves the red and black color scheme (points at avatar pic).
These creatures are based on an actual mythological creature, but the myth only said “newt” and I went out of my way to pick the Fire-Bellied Newt purely as an excuse to use that color scheme ;)
(The ears were purely a shout-out to Heir-Of-Rick and his massive pone ears that I just love)

Anyway, I find that the green colour scheme makes Gallengang look especially cool. It may seem like an unusual colour for an Alp, but it works well on him.

The critters themselves are cute.
The black and neon other color will never pass in my book though. Even if the xbox color scheme is slightly better than black and red.
Yeah, more chances for interesting situations and conversations, like somepony looking like they’re talking to themselves as they trot down the street. And hopefully, I’m trying to draw the mare he’s inside.

That name does indeed chime perfectly with the ```street toughness`` of his personality… And it keeps up with the stomach references! X3
Gallengang is perfect! I see this guy as a tough individual who you would expect to see as part of a street gang. Easily annoyed, but difficult to make him actually react unless there’s a need to, such as giving his host’s stomach a good kicking.
