Description

Somnambula city
An exploration of concept. I’m having trouble envisioning a small village having a pharaoh…
This was originally meant to be a panorama of a desert, but that one didn’t work out

Background Pony #606E
FiM # 24; the jackals - a sub-breed of the Diamond dogs - were first out. According to Discord, the jackals were very skilled builders and artists who built the first pyramids in ancient Anuegypt, and from what Discord had revealed, they had expanded into other realms “ - great at military strategy - “. The ponies that had been part of the guard forces of King Anubis may be slave warriors (very common in ancient Egypt in our world). They learned anugyptian culture from the jacals and the anugyptian cats, including how to build pyramids that are really little more than a pile of rocks. In Somnambula’s time, there was only one pyramid left likely for the pegasi dynasty that rules in Southern Equestria, all others were in the desert or in abandoned ruined towns along the river that flows through the town of Somnambula where a lake is located. Which can be a dam lake.
When Somnambula was born, the culture she grew up in had probably been over a thousand years old or more, but reduced to probably just a town and a large number of villages along the river that continue through the desert, the proud Anugypt was no more like Discord had said; “a lost civilization”. In modern Equestria, signs of Bedouin culture have emerged in the meantime as seen in the show, suggesting that the caravan routes had been reopened, possibly between Equestria and Saddle Arabia (before it was annexed, I think) as a saddle arabian - the only one below the whole show except for a royal couple - was seen right there in the country.
A country with a very long and proud history.

I’ll never tire of seeing such artistic talent put into re-imaginings of locations from this silly little pony show. This is a really beautiful piece right here.
