For what it’s worth in the conversation, Andy Price (whom I recently talked to, and did a very… impressive imitation of Snowflake in front of) uses Snowflake when referring to the stallion.
 
So… closest thing we’ll likely get to canon is, indeed, Snowflake.

There is an artist that works on the show known as Raven Molisee… she worked on the storyboard for “Hurricane Fluttershy”, she added the muscle pony in for giggles and he got approved…. she named him Snowflake… his name is Snowflake

I like Snowflake as a name partially because the disconnect between it and his personality/body is amusing and partially because you know there is going to be some kind of story as to how a little colt named ‘snowflake’ ended up as this massive hulk.

Snowflake fits because irony is funny. He’s huge, he’s tough, and he’s very loud. A snowflake is tiny, fragile and silent. I’ve known of people in real life who get nicknames like ‘Tiny’ when they are six and a half feet tall walls of muscle. ALSO, holy crap this is cute.

I’m just wondering… why Snowflake? Does anything he’s ever done point toward that? – and his mark’s a barbell. Is it just because he’s white and a pegasus?
 
I always did like “Horse Power” back when he was new, peraonally!

“Snowflake” = more appropriate name, gaining traction recently  
“Big McLargeHooves” = less common since it comes from a specific MST3K episode  
“Heavyweight” = least common name; only used when headcanon has him related to Featherweight
