Now, I don’t understand how in tarnation Filly Anon just turns into Nyx by going under a blanket. If you get it, can you explain?

just saying it does make you a beggar. anyone can beg for luxuries they want on purpose (and there’s nothing wrong with that) but when someone loses hope, they’re going to end up forced into the “need it” category.

unfortunately, depression can last a long time. it’s not just “feelin’ down.” you’re right that you shouldn’t help people who are depressed because they’ll drag you down with them. but that doesn’t mean they’re doing it on purpose. it’s just too dangerous for you to risk your own happiness.

…giving free stuff to someone who is depressed doesn’t actually help with their depression… and in worst case scenarios actually makes the person worse…
That’s true. There aren’t any easy solutions to depression, unfortunately. Obviously I don’t know in what way that person was asking for Nyx pictures but the fact that he asked doesn’t mean that he’s a greedy/stingy cunt - that’s a bit harsh. And, as redweasel said, depression absolutely can make people ask for something that seems to them like something they would enjoy, even if for a temporary relief from their depressed state.

But, as i said, I don’t know how that person was asking for pictures nor do I know if he actually does have depression. It’s just harder for me to imagine that someone would pretend to be depressed instead of actually being depressed. Depression is common these days.

@redweasel
begging for luxuries because you want it != begging for money because you need it.
begging for free art from someone != receiving free art without asking for it from a friend who cares about you.

by all means help a friend out if they’re feelin’ down, just don’t make a habit of it if they’re always down, and just be weary of the types so it don’t end up being counterproductive.

depression does make you a beggar, when you can’t find a job, and you run out of money for food and rent.

I definitely say that feeling like someone else cares about you, even for a moment, can help with depression.

Depression doesn’t make you a beggar, being a stingy/greedy cunt makes you a beggar. And I can say from experience that giving free stuff to someone who is depressed doesn’t actually help with their depression, it is at most a very temporary solution, and in worst case scenarios actually makes the person worse because they come to expect it, only to be disappointed when they don’t get any more.
